OK, I was wrong. I thought Barack Obama wouldn’t pick fellow Senator Joe Biden as his running mate. I thought Obama would possibly practice age discrimination, because frankly, Biden, at age 65, is much closer in age to John McCain, and that Biden’s age would serve to remind people of Obama’s youth.
But I underestimated Obama. And I’m impressed with his first major show of leadership since claiming the nomination. He’s thinking like a CEO. While you can argue about this from a political perspective (did Hillary Clinton deserve the No. 2 spot, is Biden’s past criticism of Obama and support of McCain an embarrassment?) you can’t argue about these points: Biden’s strengths complement Obama’s weaknesses; Obama isn’t afraid to surround himself with a big personality; Biden is likely to give Obama straight talk not happy talk; and yes, from a succession standpoint, there’s no question that Biden would be qualified to succeed, if God forbid, that were ever necessary.
As one Democratic political insider told me: “Obama is surrounding himself with the best, and he’s putting the party’s interests first, rather than special interests, which is what choosing Hillary would have been.” Like I said, Obama is thinking like a CEO.
What do you think of Obama/Biden? Do you think this dual-generation ticket makes sense? Is thinking like a CEO the way he ought to be thinking?
Nate, Bon, Nadine...I LOVE you guys! I'd have PREFERRED Bloomie - now, HE would've been positive, CEO-induced CHANGE!!! But importantly, NO ONE should swallow the Party lines, and accept that EITHER Party is willing to give up corruption and self-enrichment. It's what the leadership of both Parties is ALL about; money and power. McCain, is bush III, and about to start taking his naps, and possibly drooling, he's so danged OLD! Even bush looks old, and all he did was goof off and play with his crayolas...he's not even WANTED at the Repub Convention - that tells the Religious Right something, too.
Obama will be a great president. He's smart enough to higher the most talented individuals and to put the needs of the United Stated first. To those whom comment about experience, apparently everyone that has ever been hired for a job in America has had years upon years of experience. What in the world did I go to college for? I should have just started working right out of high school. Tell me one entrepreneur that started a business because he had plenty of experience in owning and running the very business he or she just started? If you want to talk about the draw down in Iraq due to the surge, you had better get educated on the surge. The only surge that I'm aware of that's working is the surge of millions of dollars we are paying the local Cleric leaders not to attack our troops. We're paying millions of dollars to each leader and that money won't last forever. It's just buying the current administration enough time through the end of the year just past the elections. Once you stop paying, the fighting will start all over again.
Question: WHO funds political parties? Ans: Mostly Fortune 500, S&P, Nasdaq, lawyers and unions. Who appoints judges and ALL TOP Govt posts? Both political parties. Is there a DIRECT connection between money and govt? So where is there any ambiguity, as we watch the outrageously expensive and gratuitous DEM Convention, and soon, the Repub Convention, PAID FOR by Big Business? Biden; 25+ years getting comfortable with lobbyists and special interests. Obama - getting his training wheels. McCain? GOD forbid!!! The worst choice after bush and clinton!!!
Biden is a wardog. He would much better suit McCain and Bush. I am disappointed with this Obama move
Paul,
Career politicians are still allowed to run businesses, even as a member of the Congress. The golden rule from the Ethics Committee is that rulings, ear marks, and legislation cannot have a conflict of interest allowing your business to have an unfair advantage as a result.
Additionally, many Senators and former Presidents can be key note speakers at colleges, book tours, or corporate functions and be paid for their time. Mind you the later looks dangerously suspicious and the Ethics Committee routinely checks for impropriety.
All told, I think that Biden was a good choice. Admittedly, I wonder where Biden's spirit for change has been the last almost forty years. But Hillary would've been a terrible choice, it would have cost Obama my vote and the vote of thousands of others.
Whether or not Obama-Biden can actually bring "real" change or deliver on any of their promises, the NeoCons have certainly NOT delivered on ANY of there's and it's worth giving the other side of the line a chance. Hey, if they're terrible, we just put in better guys in four years. Eight years of Bush hasn't killed us (though it's come close at times), eight years of Obama won't either.
I must decry socialism in any shape it takes--and somewhat to my sadness the Republicans (specifically the NeoCons) are the shape that socialism is taking these days. McCain could be good for this country if he actually learned from the pile of experience he has. I have high hopes for Obama-Biden...
And all told, we've been spoiled with our image of the VP for 8 years, Cheney tries to be useful and Bush actually listens to him--all the VP really gets to do is break ties in the senate. Biden should be good at that by now.
Inspired choice. Now Obama has someone who can b**** slap McCain with impugnity while Obama stays above the fray. I hope McCain picks Lie-berman, that would be perfect. What I want to know is this: why would anyone vote for John McCain, a guy who couldn't even beat Bush?? Additionally, McCain's military record is bleak and the Navy wouldn't promote McCain to Admiral like his daddy and granddaddy because he didn't have "the right stuff". Not promoted in spite of the family legacy and his Naval Academy background (well, he was 4th from the bottom of his class). The man wrecked four military planes and got himself shot down because he was hot dogging. So he left the Navy and went into "public service". Lucky us. He married his trophy wife and her heiress fortune to springboard himself into politics. He got her money and she got herself a senator. It's the great American marriage of convenience. I'm hoping Biden will expose McCain for the fraud that he is.
Anybody but Hillary.
She only wanted to be vetted if she was chosen. What kind of mess is that? I am sick of her. She needs to find another line of work. I have no respect for her. She is trying to hijack this country.
Biden = 250K votes
Clinton = 18M votes
Obama = No CEO
Biden has been in Government since he was pretty young, and much has been made of his regular trips home. Who is paying for all of those trips?? How has Biden become a millionaire while in Government service?
About Barack
His strength and his wisdom are in his wonderful ability to get diverse groups to work together. We need that.
Barack is a smart candidate who will surround himself with the right team to execute his vision for Change in America. Let's all work with him to make CHANGE a reality. We owe it to our kids to correct the course the Bush administration has taken the country.
Just how do all these career politicians get so rich? (McCain married his, which at least, is not a mystery).
Seriously.
Biden has been at this since his 20s yet he is a multi-millionaire on his Senate salary??
And it's not just him. It cuts across all party lines.
Something stinks. and I'm glad the spotlight is now on Biden. Maybe we'll start to unravel some of these mysteries.
The Bush Adminstration was not the best - give you that... But....
By what standards is it a misarable failure?
No new attacks on our soil?
OK we went to Iraq thinking they had WMD, EVERYONE DID! EVEN THE FRENCH!
Obama did not want to go in and it had nothing to do with him not believing they had WMD! ALL the evidence at the time convinced every other government and 90% of ours! Biden, Clinton, down the line. He didn't want us in for all the wrong reasons. What happens the next time 90% percent of the world thinks we need to act and Pres Obama (god forbid) thinks othewise? Next time it may not be a drill! One wrong move and it could be bye bye LA or NYC!
Sadam could have avioded the confilict by abiding by the UN resolutions that Biden beleives in so well. If there are no teeth in the UN it is useless!
Is the administration to blame for eventually getting it right in IRAQ ? To the point where we now can actually talk about removing our troops and leaving behind a less hostile government?
Is it the administrations fault for the real estate bubble? was it the Clintons fault for the Internet Bubble? It's business folks, thing go up and things go down. If you dont care for market economy, move to cuba!
Is the high price of fuel the fault of the administration? who stood in the way of drilling for the past 20 years? the Environmental groups who have no plan but to limit fossil fuels. but of course they know there is some secret energy source or engine that gets 1000 miles to the gallon of water but big oil is blocking its development! Want to buy a Bridge?
And those who argue that drilling now will do nothing to prices for 10 years are obviously libral arts majors! Why do they call it a FUTURES Market? because it is based upon the markets expectation of supply and demand in THE FUTURE! Why did prices drop almost 40 dollars a barrel? there was a hint that demand is dropping and future projections may be lower than originally thought . The strength of the us doller helps as well.
The single largest failure of the administration (other than not being able to articulate a point.... any point) is that they tried to spend their way out of the negative poll numbers by apeasing the left. Fund the war and we will give in on spending. That was the only way of getting done what needed to get done and they didn't have the kahonas to hold the line and let the libs defund the troops!
Everyone here is as bad as the two mud slinging liars Obama/Mccain...I have no confidence in someone that puts one down to raise themselves up. I feel sick watching these absurd commercials ramble on about how bad so and so is... Anyone who thinks that Obama or McCain is going to change the world needs to wake up and get a clue. Little will change and Republicans will smear Obama if he is elected and Democrats will do the same to McCain... What progress/Change is that!
Biden is a reckless and dishonest man who preaches class warfare from his multi-million dollar mansion in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Delaware. He's a lawyer and career politician who has been in the Senate almost 36 years now. Like taxes and socialism? Want to fork over more of your money to pay for other people's rent, healthcare, education, and so Democrats can reward friends and supporters with patronage jobs at taxpayer expense? Hate America and think that we're the source of all the world's problems. O/B is your dream team.
Looks like the election will help anwwer one primary question: Are the future goals and aspirations of "Main Street" aligned with "Wall Street"? If you answer Yes, then McCain is your candidate; and if you answer No, then Obama is the one.
OK...
I have read most of the opinion here and see that CHANGE seems to be a big issue.
I concede that Bush is no rocket scientist and it is a poor day when he is held up as our best and brightest!
His double win shows me a couple of things.
Nobody with any brains or hope of success in the private sector wants to run. (some exceptions but too few and far between).
The Democrats are surely out of touch if they couldn't beat bush not once but twice!
Our election process is dramatically broken. If you do not have the parties inside track you do not stand a chance. While O'bama touts being an outsider, don't be fooled, he is all bout big money (any doubts, he didn't even need the fed matching funds).
Now back to change, CHANGE WHAT!
Tax BIG OIL.. The will either pass is on to us, move off shore to avoid our tax, or simply go out of business. Their profit margin is around 9 percent, if it gets to 7 the stockholders will simply sell and put their money in an alternative investment!
Raise taxes on the RICH! what a laugh. Living in the NY metro area 150K per year can not even buy a home. Real estate taxes average 10K per year, State and local around 7% Gas prices among the highest in the nation, Rent over 1K per month. Thats rich alright!
I understand and agree that government has the ability and SHOULD use the tax code to drive behaviour, but here is a twist! RATHER THAN RAISING TAXES ON THE UNDESIREABLE BEHAVIOUR, LOWER THEM ON THE DESIREABLE BEHAVIOU!!!!!!!!!
Why not! Same effect!
Give tax breaks to non smokers, tax breaks for those who take mass transit or drive fuel efficient cars!
I will tell you why not! because that would mean cutting somewhere else! and god forbid our government takes a pay cut.
Remember one thing!
EVERY DOLLAR OUR GOVERNMENT GIVES TO SOMEONE... THE MUST FIRST TAKE FROM SOMEONE ELSE!
Before voting for CHANGE, make sure you understand what type of CHANGE you are voting for.
Personnally I agree that our country need a shift, but it is not the government that needs the shift (while if is very convenient to blame them), it is the PEOPLE! In fact, the very fact that the people blame the government demonstrates my point!
Our problem is that people do not feel accountable for their own life or actions! When ever there is a problem it must be the governments fault.
The president has very little to do with the economy. Congress has 10 times the impact by enacting tax code chages and spending legislation. Democratic Congress for over 2 years and I admit the last 2 years have been poor at best.
Is that the kind of change you want for executive branch? Obama will push income redistribution to a global scale!
When marginal tax rates go up, I will work less!
Wake Up People. I am a business owner of 30+ years. Let's do the math. Bush & Company with a 7 year Republican controlled congress. Bush being elected twice by razor thin margins by planted Florida Secretary of State ( Now In Bush's Regime.) What has Bush and the Republican controlled congress done for America ? Businesses are hanging on by a thin thread to survive. Middle and lower class Americans are stressed just to make ends meet, we are nearly in a depression, record deficits that have to be paid back, A reckless ongoing war that was poorly planned and executed, No leadership in foreign policy and diluted respect by countries that used to look up to America for leadership.
The history of this Republican President and Congress Regime speaks for itself and has failed all Americans to special interests...Big Oil....and the super wealthy. The 7 + year math test results = Flunked the test miserably. McCain is a sure repeat of these same failed Bush policies.
It is not a matter of Republican, Democrat, or Independent...it is a who is on the platform that is best suited for the job.
I am not for any "Party" or am I swayed to vote for anyone by large pools of special interest money that would like you to believe their candidate is the solution...so their funded special interest agendas are passed policy behind closed doors, or manipulated into " Special Interest Packages" that require passage of the entire bill to stay whole.
I have voted Republican, Democrat, and Independent before. It is the leadership package that has elevated to the head of the Platform that is relevant for "What Do We Actually Have" with substance and a plan of action to at least make attempts at reversing the last 7 years of the worst American Presidential regime (Congress) in American History...and at least a chance to get away from "Business As Usual" in Washington.....
Wake up America....the choice is clear on those that are attempting to "succeed".... by our way of processing elections in America to the top of the party's platform.
Who in America that owns a TV...that clearly has not seen McCain strongly supporting and walking hand in hand at the White House supporting George W. Bush politics and the miserable failure's of this Bush administration ?
Can we as Americans survive another 8 years of George W. Bush mentality ? The choice is clear...
Obama/Biden are the ticket of choice for responsible, and clear direction on how we "might" dig out of this horrific damage done to our economy of the middle and lower class citizens...the huge majority of this great country.
Anyone that cannot see the clear and right choices is "party biased" only....which has only placed poor leadership in Washington twice in the last 8 years. Look at the math..test results are in.
During his run for the Whitehouse, Joe Biden claimed Obama was not prepared or expierenced enough to be President!
In fact he said he or McCain would be a better choice!
Now he is telling us Obama "IS DA MAN!"
Gee, are you sure? Seems like more of the same old Bxxx Sxit to me!
Where is the change in that?
Eric,
You mention neither one (Obama and Biden) has had a "real job". Well, what real job has John McCain had by those standards? He has always worked for the government, he even went to a free government college.
One thing that irks me about some conservatives is their lack of respect for government service. If you repeat the Reagan mantra that government is the problem long enough, you end up with incompetent government actions like not thinking about how to occupy Iraq, and not thinking about what happens after Katrina.
Obama, Biden and McCain have all spent most of their lives as politicians. You can be a cynic and denigrate that, or you can be appreciative of their hard work and sacrifice. I believe they all want to make our country and our government better.
The question is are you happy with how the government has performed over the last 7 years and do you want more of the same, or is it time to bring in a new management team?
Business is full of examples of wildly successful companies run by 47 year old CEOs.
If we are talking about the best and the brightest, why are we talking about JB. Look how long he has been in Congress. Look back and see he "lived" through the energy crisis of Jimmy Carter. Look now and see we are still in the same boat. Why didn't JB help ensure a non-repeat of the energy crisis?
Is he true to his word? Just look at his previous opinion of Obama. Yes, people can change their opinion with new data and information, but there is nothing new to Obama since JB's first uttered opinion. Oh wait, its called "get the VP job". Unfortunately JB is like all other politicians. And that helps contribute to the publics disapproval rating (which is larger than Bush's).
Not sure Biden at 73 runs after 8 years but if Hillary behaves she could be the standard bearer after him.
Brilliant choice. Indeed he is a CEO running a 500 million dollar business that stays disciplined, on message, avoids gossip, internal strife and outperformed Hilaary and will do the same to McCain.
John won't know what hit him inside of three week's time. We've finally brought a gun to a gun fight instead of a knife!
Now the Hillaristas and Bilary need to grow up, shut up, get over it, and get enthusiaticaly on board or the entire party will throw them under the bus.
It reminds me of the Lufthansa pilot chided by Munich Tower to repeat his last broadcast to them in English.
"Why, I am a German pilot, flying the German flag carrier, talking to a German tower, why can't I speak in German?!?
To which a clipped and proper British Airways pilot answers without missing a beat over live radio, "because you lost the war old chum."
Fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride.
Joe Biden as VP?
After 8 years - Joe Biden as President?
I like it!
Why?
If you have to ask - you haven't been paying attention.
George Bush ( like his father ) has been a failure. Pure and simple. And like Daddy before him - I can only say - "It's the economy stupid!"
Can anyone with a brain really defend GWB? The Gop used to be the party of: fiscal responsibility - less Government - lower taxes. GWB has had a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS for 6 of the last 7 years. They have FAILED miserably!
As for those of you who can't see the EPIC FAILURES of the last 8 years......all I can say is....WOW!
Well I for one am happy to see at the very least a promise of change. After H.W. bought his son the presidency twice! I hope the corruption will slow a bit and " we the people" will have better days ahead....
Biden was elected to the Senate at age 29 and Obama has been a state senator, running for president for the last 5 yrs and a community activist. What does either guy know about the real world, especially the business world. Neither of these guys has ever had a real job. ce
Why did he pick a Senator and Lawyer? Obama is a Senator and a Lawyer too. These are two people who write laws which needs to be executed correctly otherwise they are just useless pieces of papers.
The executive branch is all about execution. Someone who has executive experience in either a corporation or as a state governor would have been better pick.
Great to see the brilliance of our wise new leader already at work. To remind everyone, our current CIC (with an MBA) makes "USACorp" look worse than Enron. McCain't seems to think W's tenure was good for the shareholders of America. Bottom line: Republicans are BAD for business!
Good news: smart investers (voters) are savvy enough to CHANGE the direction of this organization with an Obama-led board of directors. It's past time for the frontline workers to finally see the benefits of good leadership. Maybe now, we'll see our stock relisted and the value quickly increase across the globe. Well done President Obama!
Countries do not go out of business; corporations do.
Wrong Jane...
The US is the consumer. The US Government is the corporation.
of course he should be thinking like a ceo. the us is a corporation, isn't it?
It's about time my revolutionary comrades in the US elects a Communist as President.
http://www.ridesbyrich.net/Obamas_Family_In_Africa%20_Americas_First_Family.html
Biden appears to say what he believes. He and Obama are exactly what we need after the disasters created by Bush and Co. The only real problem is imagining how this country elected Bush twice - I still can't believe it.
Obama has picked yet another Talker like himself but not a Doer. Good CEOs pick people who adress their weaknesses.
It is like the VP and director of Marketing running for CEO and President role in a global corporation. There will be good rhetoric but nothing else coming for these two guys.
Biden has 30 + year in Washington! What does he have to show for it ? Long monologues.
Seem Barack suffers from the Emperor complex. Wants to rule by decrees, and pronouncements. But they sure look Presidential. I guess that shows the shallowness of American politics - it is not what you do but how you make people feel. This also sums up Obama's populism.
Interestingly, the text message went out at 3am. Wondering if Hillary was awake!
I think at this point Obama is not yet a CEO, but a politician, and I am concern how many more votes will Biden bring into the team considering the short distance with McCain. I agree, Biden makes a great and better choice, than let's say Hillary, but right now is about votes.
I hope this will pay off!
If I were a US citizen Obama and Biden would have my vote. From an Aussie.
I think choosing Biden signified the message of "Change" for Obama. Biden himself has a strong personality and quite a change agent himself. This choice send a message that there is no holding back on changing the way we run the government if he elected.
all i see is sheeple following their obamessiah, you will be sorely disappointed in november; maybe you'll support your friend hillary in 2012
America is tired of subprime government, subprime foreign policy, subprime behavior and the subprime republicans behind it all.
It is telling that Mr. Subprime himself, Phil Grahmn was on McCains reelection campaign.
We are near or in the worst time in this nation since the Great Depression with the Lamest Lame Duck seen in our nations history.
Witness the end of what make our country great brought to you by our subprime republican members who could care less about anything else but making money and convincing the Religious Right to help them keep their Immoral Majority.
I love the choice of Joe Biden!! In fact I completely agree with him when he stated that the presidency is no place for on the job training!
No matter who the VP is, never forget who is on the top of the ticket, someone who has no plan other than income redistribution!
Go JOHN!
It's about time someone made an educated decision about our future. We all need to thank Michelle for putting some brain juice in his coffee! We all know, a good man is only as good as the woman behind him telling him what to do. :)
READ VIKING'S COMMENTS AT THE TOP. I couldn't agree more or say it better.
The truth is that we have been living beyond our means to the tune of 3-4 trillion dollars in the last decade. That was borrowed money from foreigners that enabled us to continue spending to prop up a standard of living that we can no longer afford. No amount of robbing Peter to pay Paul, or government bailout of Fannie or Freddie will fix it. Only if we collectively tighten our belts, work harder for less, will we bring our consumption in line with what we produce. We could save 200-300 billion dollars per year if we brought our military forces home from around the world, which would actually make us much safer. The reason that people want to kill us, is that we are out there interfering in their internal affairs, think Brazil, does anyone want to kill them, no, because they are not out there sticking their nose into other countries business!! I would welcome a candidate, who would ask all americans to sacrifice for the good of the country, not the endless pandering to various groups, as we are seeing now.
Once again this article demonstrates how brainwashed the american public has become. Does anyone seriously think that either of the major political parties will make the fundamental changes necessary to get this country back to fundamentals and living within our means?? They are both bought and paid for by special interest groups, who could care less about the well being of average americans. All you have to do is observe the various parties and functions paid for by corporate "sponsors" at the conventions the next two weeks!! Are either candidate talking about getting us back to a sound currency, tackling our insane deficits or a non interventionist foreign policy?? No, but one candidate did, his name is Ron Paul and he will get my vote, even if he will not win, we have to start somewhere!! Wake up America!!
Barack is a leader and a real leader surrounds himself with the people who bring something of value to the table. Joe Biden is the perfect choice for VP and this makes a very strong ticket.
People who think Barack should have all of the knowledge and experience himself rather than building a team for producing the needed results are living in an old paradigm of thinking. The days of position and authority, point-of-view and control is outdated and we have witnessed the damage of this outdated paradigm of thinking in the last 8 years of the Bush administration. Making way for the new is represented by the Obama/Biden ticket and I pray that people will wake up and vote for the positive future we need so badly and end the old failing ways of what we have endured.
Obama/Biden '08-'16
Who can be more serious about this country by choosing a VP that does not bring in much electoral votes but experience necessary to get the job done??
First off all , It is great to know that Obama chose anybody other than Hillary. She has clearly demonstrated that she is a bad Manager. Here are my reasons.
1)She and her campaign failed to master the rules of the game.
2)They were miserable in managing campaign finances.
3)She was off message most of the times(foot in mouth types).
4)She never made any attempts to build a cohesive team.
These are clear recipe of failures in the business world.
The question should not be why Obama-Biden? Americans should really be asking why not Obama-Biden.
Why can't McCain & Co highlight what Republicans have acheived in the past 8 years and address the actual issues that matter to the country. Well there is nothing.
Joe Svoboda do you know how to read ?
I am glad that he changed the subject again if he wants to win. I am sure that he was scaring people with the proposed world welfare programs, considering the state our economy is in. He has given details on our money that will be given to foreigners. Besides just talking about change, exactly what is it that he will do for us? Where will the money come from to pay for the world welfare program? Will it be paid for by "the wealthy"? Check out the federal tax tables, you are "wealthy" if you make over $40,000. After taxes, I would like more than just "CHANGE".
Remember that Oil has more than doubled, anything that uses oil, or is made from oil will eventually have to go up, food prices are up, what is the government doing about it? It would be nice to be able to blame bush alone, but for the past 2 years, we have control of the house and senate, which the democrats now control, and can override bush on everything, IF THEY WANT TO.
all thoughtful people may rejouce in the Obama/Biden candidicy. If, we do not elet them --shame on us. We must go out and work for them.
It is a day to be remembered. Thinking like CEO is NOT what we just went through. It would be more likened to Bloomberg's approach to managing New York City. The tru CEO is a leader and this country is ready!
Obama's choice of Joe Biden as VP adds depth and experience to his ticket. Both men would excel in the White house simply because they are both very well educated, intelligent, articulate and thoughtful men. Unfortunately the Republicans will have a field day smearing both men and the electorate will believe their every lie and distortion. The Republican smear team has done so before and will do so again. The ease with which American voters elected a dyslexic, inarticulate semi-illiterate like Bush proves that the average American voter is as simpleminded as Bush, and cannot understand what the Republicans have done to them, or their country in the past eight years.
Well, I like Joe Biden--always have. I am pleased that Mr. Obama picked him. Mary
I thought Obama/Clinton would have been the dream ticket. They could've kept the 'change' theme going and attracted the middle/rural America easily.
McCain's attacks on Obama's lack of experience could have been countered with the path to change.
Not completely convinced that Biden is the right choice.
The false assumption is that Obama as President will defer to Biden as Vice President on foreign policy, like in the Bush/Cheney administration.
Biden's influence on foreign policy matters will be effectively neutered as an Obama VP.
For now, Obama has only highlighted and confirmed that experience is an important qualification to be President, and he has none.
Biden must break from tradition and keep his mouth shut. He is prone to gaffs that show his true demeanor and his basic lack of intelligence. As poor a student as McCain and a plagerist to boot, he is hardly a great pick.
Ashby Jones
Of course it makes sense. Obama's the leader we always thought he was by continuing to try and DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY. That's what this is all about! Not how it looks to the pundits out there.
biden is a inspired choice. Biden has no known powerful enemies in either party. his 36 years in the Senate can only help Obama maneuver through congress and the non governmental groups to insure not only his election, but a successful first term.
I'm a little biased, i've wanted Biden from the first time he ran in '88.
The perfect choice for Obama, I really cannot think of anyone better qualified to be our next Vice President. This is great news.
It will hsve absolutely no impact on the results unless McCain's ads showing Biden saying Obsama is not resdy to be President are effective.
Obama is certainly not going to get a positive bounce. Can you see undecided or Pepublicans voting for Obama becsuse he chose Biden ??
Here is something no one msy notice. Choosing Biden is strong evidence Obama has abandoned his sbsurd 50 state strategy or he would have chosen a running mate from a state where it might have changed the result.
She is right on target. Now MCain will be exposed as the lightweight he really is. A POW hero card for not keeping his plane out of harms way and sleeping with the boss's daughter are his only true accomplishments.
I couldn't be happier.
This selection tells me a lot about Obama - his priorities, his confidence. Biden has the ability to be the the rock star in the room, so Obama is evidently caring most about the USA rather than he is his own self-importance. In other words, he is looking out for the company, not just the CEO.
If Obama/Biden are elected, I believe this ticket will serve the country well.
He ought to be thinking of middle class America which is the largest voting bloc and how he is going to fulfill the needs and ambitions of common Americans. Thinking CEO is thinking administration and management which will lose him this election. We have also had eight years of this mode and it has produced nothing - just look at the stock market - back to square one. Biden is a good choice simply because of his combination of commonality and gravitas.
I couldn't be happier.

I think it is a slight negative for Obama. Biden himself has said that this is no place for on the job training and Biden voted for the war.
Two brilliant men of modest origins and means to lead this Country.
A breath of fresh air, to renounce the McCain Gang's lies, smears, hate-mongering, race-baiting, bigoted appeals, in McCain's attempt to hoodwink the gullible, uninformed un-Christian Bible-Thumpers and self-anointed bumper-stickr super-patriots.
McCain lies about Obama's tax cut plan as well as offshore oil position. see http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/11/news/economy/candidates_taxproposals_tpc/index.htm?postversion=2008061115
I agree
Our experts on the millennial workplace, Liz Ryan, David Stillman, and Lynne Lancaster explain how to close the generation gap.
