Wharton undergrads are considered MBAs among top recruiters. Very few other undergraduate programs receive this prestige.

Only downturn is the workload, which can be extreme at times, especially if you are taking several heavy classes in one semester. This takes away a lot of time that could have been used to do other curriculars. Still, employers already seem to know that Wharton graduates know how to work extremely hard.

Wharton is very finance-focused and often portrays non-finance careers as alternative, which often turns off students. Career services, in particular, could do a much better job of bringing in diverse employers. Also, we should apply business principles to helping the community in courses.

I could not imagine a better social and academic balance. The people really make Wharton what it is, from professors to classmates to the people in the Penn community. I could not be happier with this choice of an undergraduate education.

Students in Wharton, in particular, often pit themselves against one another, rather than engage in cooperative and mutual learning. I have also observed students taking advantage of other students for their own gains. I also do not like the strong focus on finance and accounting majors. This is almost to the exclusion of other students who choose different paths, such as business and public policy, healthcare management, or operations and information management. Because I am not a finance, accounting, or management major, I often feel excluded from recruiting events and do not learn about careers or internships.

Most students at Wharton were the best in their high schools and carry that high-achiever mentality to college. Wharton is quite competitive; however, most students are okay with that culture because it really raises the level of learning and achievement for everyone.
