The alumni connections of the Trojan Family are indispensable in job hunting. The alumni network of professionals is one of the strongest assets of USC.

Being from the Seattle area, I have had to work harder building connections with USC alums than those wanting to stay in Los Angeles post-graduation. However, the career center, my advisor, professors, and even Dean Yash Gupta, have offered me great advice on how to get back home.

Most of Marshall's undergrad classes are huge (200-plus) lectures, where professors use three-year-old PowerPoints and TAs mumble at you on Friday mornings. I found Intro to Marketing to be a huge disappointment for this reason. The major requirements are so large that it is very difficult to fit in another major/minor. I wish Marshall encouraged different types of jobs, rather than just corporate types.

USC has the dreaded "Marshall Curve," where each class' average can not be above 2.85 in GPA. Under this method, in a class of 40, only about two to three students can receive As. Corporations don't understand how hard it is for a business student to have a high GPA at Marshall.

Marshall has done a great job of bringing industry into the classroom with guest speakers. The deans are supportive of student organizations, and they strongly encourage entrepreneurial activity among the organizations.
