Carslon has a fantastic alumni network and recruiting system to help students find jobs with local companies. However, I wish more companies from the East and West coasts would recruit at Carlson.

I have friends who attend six different business programs across the Midwest; comparing stories and experiences with them, the Carlson School of Management is by far the best around.

The only thing that I do not like is that many companies based in other states do not recruit heavily at Carlson. A majority of Minnesota-based companies recruit, which is okay for students who want to stay in the city, but for someone like me who wants to work out of state, it is a bit distracting.

The most rewarding aspect of my experience in business school was being president of a student professional organization. Faculty was very supportive of my club and the student members were given total freedom to develop and alter the club. To me, leadership is one of the most important skills to be prepared for the business world; leadership cannot be taught in a classroom.

If I had to do it all again, I would not choose to atttend the Carlson School of Management. I'd been impressed with the quality of teaching available at the liberal education college, and assumed this would translate to the business school also, but it did not. The business school also does a poor job of getting a variety of firms to recruit on campus. They consistently get the Big Four, Target, Best Buy, 3M, and General Mills, but these are also the local corporations that fill a lot of their position with Carlson School students.
