The business program at Marquette has a very good mentoring program where undergrads are set up with business professionals in our areas of interest. It is a great way for students to learn about different career paths and networking.

Being in downtown Milwaukee is the best aspect of attending Marquette. The school does not have top companies coming to campus for internships, but they can be found if students go out on their own. The problem is that students have to do the work to find these top positions. Overall, Marquette does a great job preparing students for real life experience but they do a poor job of setting up interviews with top companies.

The only issue that I could take with the business program is the large amount of team projects. A lot of times teams aren't chosen at random, and being a transfer student, I don't know most of the people in my classes. The groups that have space left in them tend to be the groups that aren't hard working, so I usually end up having to pull the group.

The business program did an exceptional job of teaching theory, application, and ethics from a managerial perspective. I appreciate the broader focus, where each major is important, but a connection to other disciplines was also made to see the "whole picture."

I have learned so much at school, but I have learned much more while participating in extracurricular activities. I owe my internship to Delta Sigma Pi (business fraternity). My friend asked me if I was looking for an internship, and she got me an interview. From there, I got an amazing internship that was twice the pay of a campus job, much more stimulating, had flexible hours, and amazing people.
