The business school has greatly enriched my interpersonal skills. I have worked with many teams and have had the opportunity to interact with many different types of people from corporate settings. I could really see the benefits of being able to carry on personable, educated conversations with potential employers, especially when surrounded by students of other prestigious universities who seemed socially awkward.

The only weakness with the JMU College of Business is that the majority of companies that recruit here are for marketing or hospitality and tourism majors. We need more investment and commercial banking [recruiters] to recognize the potential of JMU students and recruit on our campus.

Words cannot express the level at which my school prepared me for the workforce. I support teaching through experience and not out of a textbook. James Madison does exactly that. I studied abroad, secured two internships, participated in numerous clubs/social events, and graduated with two majors -- all in four years.

Because James Madison has each student complete extensive general education requirements, I really only spend three semesters total taking classes directly related to my major. I wish I had the opportunity to be more immersed in my major because I sometimes feel I might not be adequately prepared for a job compared to students from another college.

COB 300, a 12-credit course complete with business plan, is the hardest thing I have ever been through, but it is the most valuable thing that I will take away from here. I learned so much about the business world from that course. It’s amazing.
