In recent years, programs such as the Hawkinson Institute, John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, and Vaughn Institute of Risk Management and Insurance have developed, providing resources to students on par with other top institutions. Without a doubt, there is no place I'd rather be. Despite East and West Coast attitudes that we're "just" Iowa, there is a prevailing sense of hard work and ambition reverberating through the halls of Pappajohn. Watch out Wharton School [at the University of Pennsylvania].

The undergraduate business program has vastly exceeded my expectations. I have learned how to manage my time, lead a group of people, and make wonderful friends while receiving an excellent education.

When I was a freshman at Iowa, I had the opportunity to talk and interact with Henry B. Tippie and talk to other executives about my choice as a business major. Only at Iowa could you find a loyal alumni and priceless adviser board.

The strengths of the Tippie School of Business are more of the broad business perspective -- macroeconomics, general corporate strategy, ethics, law, and entrepreneurship. I feel more in tune with the general direction of the business world and feel that will be more effective for me in the long run.

I have been very surprised that career services didn't attempt to bring in more companies from Chicago for job seekers. With about a quarter of the undergrads being from Illinois, students expect more companies from Chicago, especially since it's the largest city in the Midwest. I just graduated and felt career services did an all right job for job seekers in Iowa, but failed miserably when it came to jobs in Illinois/Chicago where there should be a plethora of jobs.

In addition to all of the amazing resources the College of Business has to offer, the accounting department has gone further. Thanks in part to alumni donations, accounting students have outstanding resources to help them prepare for their professional careers. The department stresses writing and presenting skills. This is evidenced by the fact that the department has their own writing center, and every student takes a seminar class, where they are required to make an accounting-related presentation to a professional in the accounting field.
