The stress on teamwork in the school is great since one is forced to work with people of all skill levels and personality types.

We spend way too much time devoted to team projects. Teams (in virtually every course at the business school) can have up to eight members, and you can imagine how it obstructs learning when you have eight people fighting over work that only requires two.

The junior year project (CORE) is the best thing to have happened to me. Even though it is an intense amount of work and leads to very little sleep, it is extremely thorough and helpful in the real world. Students are put into teams and have to come up with their own product, figure out how to finance it, market it, figure out all the operations, and the information technology involved. The whole project is summed up in a 200-page business plan and a 30-minute presentation in front of "real" investors (not professors).

BU has a lot of grade deflation, which causes unnecessary stress on the students. Because of these policies, students often feel pitted against one another. Teams have been known to cover windows in team rooms with newspapers to prevent others from stealing their ideas, and individuals have been known to make up study guides with the wrong information to distribute to their peers so that the curve will be larger on the exam.

SMG is not a place for the weak. The work is strenuous, and there is constant grade competition. However, at the end of each semester you feel like you accomplished something extraordinary.

It was necessary to wade though certain classes which I felt were useless to reach classes that were of higher educational value. My experience would have been better if these classes were removed or made optional.
