The program has a diverse selection of focus areas for students to choose from. In addition, during my tenure the school and its faculty have worked diligently to raise the standards for incoming students. This coupled with an attempt to increase the rigors of the curriculum will elevate student success and help the school compete on a national level.
I do not believe in testing students with scantron based tests and multiple choice answers. I feel computation and essay tests do a better job testing students' knowledge. Too much emphasis is placed on grades and I do not like the way UTD staggers GPA points. An A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc., have different point values. A students' overall GPA can suffer because of this.
The business school has excellent student resources and services that make it easy to succeed. The faculty and staff are very friendly and are always there to help and answer questions.
Increase the amount of internships or programs related to help more students with the transition from college to post-graduate.
UTD not only offers an outstanding education, but the whole program serves to help students find the career and jobs that they want.
I think there could be more social activities to get students involved with more organizations and meet with more firms for job hunts.
There is a strong emphasis on the communication aspect of business, building leadership qualities, and working within small groups to complete larger tasks, just as much as the technical side is emphasized. We are not solely being taught how to post journal entries to become an accountant.
Specialized elective courses should be offered at more convenient times and more frequently. Since the business world is not a general world, it makes perfect sense to have concentrations and specializations within those concentrations. UTD does have some of the classes, but I wish they had more and that they were at better times rather than 3-hour marathon classes that trail late into the night
The program offers diversity from international students to classmates of various ages and experiences.
I think if we had a bigger business building we will be able to have a stronger business program.
The school is smaller so it can dedicate it's time towards their students better than schools with larger classes.
