The co-op program is by far one of the most significant advantages that Northeastern students have over students of other universities. Not only does it enable us to graduate with over a year's worth of real work experience, but it provides us with a significant base of connections in our professional network and starts us out in the job market with plenty of interview practice under our belts.
While I felt the curriculum was challenging, I think there could be more challenging coursework, especially so in the intro level classes.
Our business program is unique because lessons taught are to be applied in the corporate world, not just the classroom. Not only do we have classes specifically for job searching, but many classes teach us how to make decisions and be a strong employee.
The full-time job search is somewhat an afterthought to the co-op program. More emphasis needs to be placed on making jobs at top-tier companies available to students.
You get unique and valuable work experience in the field and the fact that all students have taken part in such work increase the caliber of all of your classes and makes them more professional. It also has a very international aspect and prepares us for the real work of business in that aspect also.
I would like to see a stronger tie between what is learned in classes and what is learned on co-op as the connections are not always clear.
Northeastern excels in developing student's skills in the field of their choice. We graduate with 1-1.5 years of work related experience, which gives us a tremendous advantage when it comes to job searching post graduation.
We need to attract better and stronger companies/positions for full-time recruiting.
The International Business program at Northeastern University is simply unparalleled. I had an extensive one-year study abroad and internship experience that has prepared me for full time work, and has made me extremely competitive in the labor market.
I think creating more global opportunities for students as well as more outside of the Boston area would greatly enhance the program.
The program is mentally job oriented. The professors cater the teaching by applying it to real world examples.
Career Services need to work with the Co-op advisors to get more notable, bulge bracket firms and top ranked boutique firms to the school for active recruiting.
