      • -The Poole College of Management has a lot of connections with businesses in Raleigh as well as others. They even have business opportunities for students abroad. I think the number and quality of study abroad programs is very unique.

        -I would like to see more banks recruiting on campus. We have very strong connections with tech companies and other Fortune 500 companies but the banks just don’t seem to be as prominent.

        -What makes my business school unique is the professors I believe. Many of the professors are people who used to work in specific business industries such as accounting and supply chain and consulting and such, and so by having that experience and also the ability to teach, I feel that it gives us an advantage by not only having the knowledge of business subjects, but also giving us a better idea of how the things we are learning about will come into play in the business environment. Our professors do a good job at relating their teaching to what and how we can use this knowledge in the business environment to gain a competitive advantage over others in order to succeed.

        -I feel like acquiring more staff to reduce class sizes, would be extremely helpful. Especially for the 300 level classes that have as many as 350 students in one section. This would allow for more personal attention, greater learning, and more relationship building between the professor and students.

        -Location is outstanding for a businessman/woman to start their professional career. Career / Internship Fair is phenomenal.

        -Advising could use work. I had 4 different advisers in my 4 years at the university. I never developed a very good relationship with them.

        -This program does an excellent job of making sure undergraduate students receive a base knowledge in all areas of business (economics, finance, marketing, accounting, etc). The program is also heavily geared toward career assistance and preparing students for full-time positions.

        -I believe they should start some mentoring programs. With the economy so weak, there aren't many opportunities and there's increasing competition. I feel NCSU students would be much better prepared if they had someone in their field to mentor and further develop business acumen without costing a company time and money.

        -You constantly get emails and reminders about events on campus and Business professionals coming to campus to speak. Furthermore, I get an email every week of new job postings which helps because sometimes you get too busy with school to search the job listings. Overall, I feel like I am taken care of here.

        -I think the curriculum could be more rigorous, especially in the introductory level classes like "Intro to Supply Chain" or "Intro to Finance". Because of budget cuts, we've all been put in auditorium style classrooms for these courses with 250-300 other students. As a result, professors give more exams on scantrons or in other easy to grade formats. Students don't really have to learn the material, they just have to learn enough to get by. In these large classes students aren't made to feel accountable, so they don't work as hard to learn the material.

        -The Poole College of Management has recently shifted to a greater of focus on business ethics. This is due to a 37 million dollar endowment provided by MR. Lonnie Poole. The college feels entrepreneurship, sustainability, and ethics are very important to the future of the United States' economy.

        -In the student's junior year, they declare a concentration within their major. Before this, each student is required to take an "intro" course related to each area of concentration. For example, though I am concentrating in marketing, I had to take Operations and Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Human Resources, etc. This helps students decide what area they would like to concentrate in if they are still unsure but also gives those who do know what they want to do a more well-rounded background knowledge of all aspects of the business world.

        -I would like to see more classes required/available for concentrations. Again speaking from my concentration in particular, I only had five different classes to choose from and had to take four of those five. I had a lot of free elective hours to fill though, and with being required to take humanities, science, English, etc. classes already, I feel that these hours could be filled with more classes from my specific concentration.

        -North Carolina State University's business school puts emphasis on real world experience and job preparation. They bring in industry leaders and speakers to help tie in the concepts students are working on to real world scenarios. The amount of experience, exposure, and job readiness that the business school prepares its students for is second to none.
