The diverse student body and opinions present at Krannert provide unique perspectives in class and group work. Krannert focuses heavily on teamwork and group projects, which ensures that students will be able to effectively work in teams in their future careers. There is also heavy focus on quantitative skills, so graduates will be better able to look critically at problems to determine solutions.
The general education courses take away from the value of my education. While some of these courses are needed to make a well-rounded individual, most are irrelevant. I took a course on dinosaurs to fill a science requirement. More courses in my related concentration would be a major improvement.
Krannert School of Management prepares students for the real world by teaching courses in a way that forces you to think and analyze critically. There is a great focus on building quantitative and technical analysis. Our business school also offers a plethora of case competitions to partake in to receive experience addressing and solving real world business issues.
Purdue and Krannert gives much lower grades than any other school. Most recruiters (especially recruiters that do not often come to Purdue) do NOT know this and overlook Purdue students because they have a lower GPA than students from other schools who receive a 4.0 no matter what.
Purdue has a very diverse student body that allows you to work with people everyday of many different cultures. With a large degree of outsourcing and operations over seas that many companies have applied, this helps us increase our understanding to different cultures and communication skills.
Krannert needs to place more emphasis on retaining faculty for longer periods of time. I feel like over half of the teachers I have had at Krannert were teaching my courses for either their first or second semester as a professor. I felt like the "guinea pig" of Krannert faculty and as a result I got subjected to a lot of raw teachers who sometimes didn't have a good grasp on appropriate workloads or teaching strategies.
The number of team projects and quantitative and statistical analysis that makes up almost all of our classes is something unmatched by other schools. I feel like I know much more about analytical problem solving than peers graduating from other schools in Indiana.
I would like to see more case studies within the classroom with the opportunity to make a recommendation at the end. Many cases I've worked on already present the efforts made by the company leaving little to analyze and suggest by students.
Krannert stresses quantitative analysis. We are taught to use numbers and science to come to conclusions instead of being influenced by emotions and other factors.
Krannert could improve on teaching the soft skills in business. Also it may be beneficial to add majors to our current business school to make students more marketable.
Krannert is a great place to grow as an individual. It is competitive while teaching you how to work in a team. It has been exceptional preparing me for a full time job and has given me the opportunity to have 6 internships throughout my college career. The name recognition is incredible, and alumni are always willing to help.
We could have more professors or class sections. Scheduling is always a hassle for other students that don't have priority registration.
We never have classes taught by teaching assistants. Also many of the professors do research in the subject that they teach so they can bring a different perspective to the course.
I think that some of the lecture classes should be reduced in size so there can be more individual attention given.
They have an exceptional career services department. We are consistently ranked as one of the top places recruiters come to recruit. Also, I am in operations and this happens to be one of the best programs in the nation.
