-The Terry College of Business is unique in that it attempts to prepare students for their professional careers in all aspects of their life: academic courses, networking opportunities, extracurricular activities, career center resources, and more.
-My school's business program could be stronger if there were more direction in choices of business electives. I knew the mandatory business classes I needed to take but when there was room for flexibility it would have been nice to know optional electives that related more to my degree.
-Terry offers unique programs that allow students to study in class and with businesses around the world. My study abroad program was able to visit foreign businesses behind the scenes, and I learned things I never dreamed were possible.
-Allow more flexibility in selection of intro classes - ex. I strongly disliked my mandatory intro to marketing, management, and business statistics courses b/c they were too watered down and seemed pointless
-The Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia is very challenging, but gives every sub major the opportunity to learn essential tools for succeeding in the business world. Through the use of speakers and professors own experiences, Terry College of Business has given students everything they need to grow professionally and continue broadening their knowledge of the business world.
-I think the program could use more out-of-the-classroom experiences, such as activities and events that would allow us to network and make more connections.
-They take a personal interest in each student and are always providing them with advice and information about upcoming employment opportunities at the University in order to ensure that we are successful post-graduation.
-The businesses classes that do not pertain to the students’ specific major should be separated from those students that are interested in the course. I.E. If I am not interested in applying to be an accounting major then I should not take the same pre-requisite accounting class as a student who is interested in becoming an accounting major.
-The professors are very interactive and helpful. They want you to be successful so they teach difficult subject matter, but in a fair way. Also, there is no shortage of speakers from companies and businesses to help you network and figure out what you want to do with your future.
-I think any program could be made stronger by requiring fewer arts and science electives and more business related electives to graduate. That way you learn more things that actually relate to what you will be doing in your career.
-The accounting program is so vigorous that many people fail to gain acceptance or complete it. With that being said, it pays off. Our school has a high pass rate on the CPA exam. Employers are also highly aware of the program and want to hire us!
-The school needs to expand job opportunities outside of the southeast. I do not want to work in the southeast and it has been a huge struggle for me making connections elsewhere. The job fairs are packed with companies that only hire for the southeast region and this is very frustrating to me, considering Atlanta is the only city I would even possibly consider working in in this region.
-They don't overwhelm the students with busywork, but, rather, offer opportunities to learn through doing and through networking. If you are willing to put in the effort to go the extra mile, then you will be amazingly successful
-Make us work harder. The average student can get by without doing too much work (~C grade). Those kids should not graduate, because they give the rest of the students a bad name when they can't perform in the real world.
-One very unique aspect of the Terry College of Business is the school's proximity to and deep connection with the Atlanta area. There are ALWAYS recruiters from great companies around campus who are eager to pick from the talented pool of students that Terry is educating. That fact alone is very comforting, especially during hard economic times.
-Instead of focusing on grades for admission into the business college, encourage extracurricular activities and leadership positions. I spent my first year and a half obsessed with getting a 4.0 so I could get into Terry and didn't get seriously involved in organizations that would help me network and build skills until the end of my sophomore year/beginning of junior year. Junior year is when you start talking to recruiters and that's when you need leadership positions on your resume, but if all you've been focusing on for two years is your grades so you can be admitted into Terry, you have zero.
-Terry makes everything real. They bring in speakers to tell you how it is in the real world, they encourage you to network with people who are working in your field, and they make it very easy to make connections with alumni who help you get prepared for the "real world."
-
-The Terry College of Business is unique in that it attempts to prepare students for their professional careers in all aspects of their life: academic courses, networking opportunities, extracurricular activities, career center resources, and more.
