-The Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business provides a substantive curriculum delivered by top-notch professors, most with real-world experience. The Flex-Time (i.e. part-time) MBA program's courses and instructors are identical to those in the full-time program, ensuring the same high quality learning experience. The Flex-Time schedule works well for students with full-time jobs. Finally, Carnegie Mellon University provides a superb learning environment.
-There's no doubt about the quality of education at the Tepper School however, part-time students are often unable to take advantage of the many wonderful extra-curricular activities that are made available to the full-time program. After several attempts to voice our concerns about being effectively treated as "second-class citizens" the only response was that there was an extreme space constraint that forced the administration to schedule events during normal business hours. While this should not reflect poorly on the merit of the degree itself, it is cause for hesitation upon issuing a recommendation to another prospective student.
-The only improvement is having the schedule of flextime classes set and predictable. But I do understand that things change due to professor's overall schedules and things like sabbaticals.
-My experience at the Tepper School has made me a higher performing individual professionally, personally, and in my community. At the Tepper School your classmates and professors push you to excel in all areas of life beyond the traditional MBA curriculum and give you the support to succeed. This has been 3 of the best years of my life and I would urge all of my friend and colleagues who aspire to be a leader in their community to apply to the Tepper School.
-The school excels in quantitative teachings, however some more common sense day-to-day applications are left out. There often are decision points where common sense rules the day, which the school fails to address.
-Tepper is great academically and with its career placement and many activities. But what really sets it apart is the community within the program, which you do not always find elsewhere.
-Clearly state to prospective students of the differences between full time and part time and make clear what the program could deliver specifically to the part time program.
-Tepper provides an excellent ROI. Anyone who has the chops to get in and succeed there will find ample opportunities to showcase their new skills while earning an enviable salary upon graduation.
-I'd like to see Tepper work with large companies within Pittsburgh to develop a mutually beneficial partnership.
-I found the part-time program to be amazing - difficult but very rewarding for the effort. My classmates were very dedicated, which enhanced my experience tremendously, and the rigor of the program ensured learning in leaps and bounds. If people considering business school are serious about the endeavor and want to wring the most out of their time and experience, Tepper should be at the top of their list.
-Carnegie Mellon is home to some of the world's premier institutions in information systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, entertainment technology, computer and electrical engineering, business, and the arts. MBA students are allowed to take classes at any of the other schools just as those students are allowed to take MBA classes. Instances where students from different schools collaborate on projects together have yielded some of the most innovative results. Greater collaboration between the schools on campus could improve the MBA program.
