Babson's focus on practical entrepreneurship is something that sets it apart from all other schools. The Babson MBA teaches you how to go out and start your own business successfully from idea generation to a liquidity event and beyond.
I really wish a concentration in entrepreneurship was offered. The whole program at Babson is geared towards entrepreneurship, but for those wishing to start their business or become an early team member at a startup, I think being able to put that concentration on your resume would be helpful. I don't think the curriculum needs any changing, just that students taking several of the entrepreneurship classes be offered a concentration option.
I valued the professors that had real world experience. It's difficult to relate to a professor that's been an academic their whole career.
The only thing I think Babson should work on improving (and I believe they are) is offering more flexible options for evening students. I had a hard time with the fact that most professors only allowed you to miss one class without an impact to your grade, but I also didn't want to delay my program just because I had to travel more than once during a semester. I would have really appreciated the option to take online courses throughout the program. Babson started to incorporate them towards the end of my time there, so I was able to take one online course and it was great. I had taken one course online and one classroom-based course and that was my favorite semester of the whole program. I had much more balance.
There is an entrepreneurial focus throughout. Great for creativity and different thinking approaches, especially for an engineer such as myself.
I think understanding Balance sheets, P&L's, and income statements are so important and I wish the school made it required to take additional courses.
