Kogod School of Business

-Fantastic faculty that really care about the students. Excellent combination of theoretical and practical knowledge.

-The summer session is lacking. Considering we take two courses per summer session, Kogod needs to offer more course variety. I ended up taking course that I had little interest in, in order to keep pace with my program completion date.

-It is a well-organized program with superb facilities and a great campus. The faculty is good, and the classes are good as well. I would say that the finance portion could be more challenging.

-They should cater the classes. I think they could easily fit it into the price.

-The MBA program at American University allowed me to meet a lot of wonderful people. The professors were extremely well connected and knowledgeable, and I feel I made more friends in this program than I did in undergrad. Everyone was very eager to help each other, and I appreciated the support and encouragement from my professors.

-While no degree program is perfect, I have found the professors at Kogod to be excellent in the scholar-teacher aspect. They are knowledgeable about their field, bring expertise directly from the business world, and are willing to share their network with you.

-I'd like to see a stronger recruitment of faculty and staff members with actual work experience rather than just years of teaching and research. Need to be able to relate to our professors as well as value their advice and teachings. I do not want to be teaching myself, nor do I want to be taught something I can find myself in a book.

-My school implemented a career guidance system, and then limited the access that Part-Time students could utilize it. Additionally, I felt there was a lack of recognition of the difficulty of the associated course times.

-The Kogod School of Business allows students a fully customizable experience. Class sizes are small enough that professors get to know you well, but large enough that you can learn from your experienced classmates.

-The rigor of course study was less than expected. The school makes continues changes to the program and tracks of focus, without through preparation or follow through. Majority of classes are inefficient with continual/overlapping review of basic concepts rather than focused on depth of application. Implementation of online coursework was not properly executed or communicated with incoming students.

-American University is conveniently located in Washington, DC. It offers a wide variety of specializations, as well as the ability to tailor coursework to best suit the student's interests.
