-If someone is looking for an international experience and hands-on learning, then MBS is the best school for those requirements. If interest is in banking, then MBS may not be the best school, as general industry is the greatest strength of MBS.
-Manchester Business School MBA is unique from two perspectives: 75 percent group work which is very hands on and has a 18 month curriculum. With a hands on approach you actually get exposed to real life situations rather then being immersed in books. You get to learn from the people you are working with and makes it a very stimulating environment. An 18 month curriculum is much better than a 12 month curriculum, as it gives you time to do your internship as well as gives you time to do a lot more hands on group work. A 24 month curriculum is too long and is expensive.
1) Despite the fact that the management in the school is told that they lack in some areas - told by 130 students from over 29 nationalities - no action is taken to remedy this.
2) Infrastructure is REALLY BAD - no toner/ink in printers, messed up and smelly study rooms.
3) You essentially pay more and more to cope up with the deficiencies of the school rather than synergize with it.
4) The attitude of career services advisors is REALLY lax. They just don't care about anything - and make no secret of it!
-The experience to collaborate on a range of projects with 36 different nationalities, being primed with though leadership and the Manchester method (a practical application of thought leadership) has catapulted my career outlook to a new level.
-On the down side, career management services really needs to be upped a few notches. I was hoping to meet a greater number of companies on campus although the economic climate really did not help.
-The time of the program is adequate, 18 months allow you to have a full preparation and apply the learnings from the lectures on the Business Project, right before the end of the program and back to the real world.
-I can recommend the program but make sure they manage their expectations - quality of the teaching facilities (non-availability of study rooms, clumsy IT/IS infrastructure), responsiveness of academics, to what extent career management services are helpful or useless in helping to get a right internship and job, how mainstream this help is (not customized to your individual needs), high intensity of the program so that students completely have no time for networking. The good thing about the program is real life projects for real life clients, 90 percent international class. Special attention to exchange programs - I believe every student must be eligible for an exchange program, regardless of academic performance. This is where MBS approach needs to be completely changed.
-MBA at Manchester Business School (MBS) was a very good experience. The international diversity and the level of experience brought in by the students is what I appreciate most. However, the only glitch was the difficulty faced in career opportunity after graduation. Though, I must stress that it was partly me as well who did not get as involved as I could have.
