ASU has a strong supply chain management reputation. They have small class sizes allowing students to get valuable interactions with classmates and professors. The staff knows everyone personally and is extremely committed to making the MBA experience a great one for each student.
Better recruiting; the recruiting office could've been stronger in enabling students to seek the very best positions available.
The campus placements make my school's business program unique. There were almost all the top Supply Chain companies that visited the campus for placements. Another thing that makes this program unique is its size. Its a pretty small program (only 80-90 students per year) as compared to other MBA programs. The small size offers abundant opportunities to all students and make their efforts visible.
My school is doing really great when it comes to Supply Chain; but the Finance and Marketing departments are not doing that great. More efforts should be devoted to bring up to speed these departments.
Our program has a lot of diverse students and therefore gives students an opportunity to really practice different management techniques. It also is a smaller overall class size and therefore you are able to build stronger relationships with fellow classmates.
I think some additional focus on technical aspects of management would be useful to students. We had a lot of great classes and instruction on techniques for managing people, but I think it would be beneficial to learn some of the technical tools a little better (excel, access, etc.).
We are very heavy on the quantitative skills and courses are demanding. Students can and did actually fail out for not taking accounting, statistics, and other courses seriously.
They need an overall turn-around in curriculum design, career service, and faculty selection. They need to hire faculty who understand what's going on in CURRENT business world.
A very open, honest, and collaborative culture. People aren't looking to stab you in the back to get ahead. We strive to work together for the good of all involved. Also, the cost is quite low, and the return on investment is fantastic!
The variety of students accepted to the program should be improved. Also, focus should be put on making the program stronger in areas such as Marketing and Finance - this would ensure that a broader variety of students would come and join the program.
There was a great blend of on campus and off campus activities. The class size was large enough to have good diversity but small enough to still get to know everyone. It was a very collaborative learning environment as opposed to excessively competitive.
We have great marketing and finance professors / students but not as many companies recruiting for those specializations. If we had better placement in those specializations then ASU would be a stronger program.
The most unique aspect for me was the emphasis on Services Marketing and Strategy. This has opened doors for me at IBM and has helped me in my current role.
