My EMBA peer group were some of the smartest business leaders in the region. I have never been more impressed with the caliber of a peer group than I was during my EMBA program. SMU really does bring the best and the brightest together, coupling us with some of the most amazing professors I have ever known.
The program was thoughtfully structured and changes are made every year based on feedback from previous year students. SMU is good at taking student feedback and acting on it; I experienced it from the program office as well as professors.
In the past, SMU EMBA program took two international trips to different areas in the world. We took one trip to Asia in our program. I would recommend adding another trip to another area of the work to enhance the international study.
The program draws the class together, it causes collaboration. There are numerous viable businesses forming due to the program and the teams that were formed during the program. The collection of professors is outstanding and practical.
I would have liked a better mix of online (for example, with case study videos) and in-class materials would help me to be more productive and be able to better understand the context of some specific case study scenarios.
SMU provided solid fundamentals, access to world-class instructors, and exposure to current global business trends. SMU also has a strong network of business leaders that feel like family.
I would have liked a full time staff member within the EMBA staff working with executive recruiters for the students that wanted different positions. However, they did have Executive recruiters come in on a regular basses to discuss our options.
One might say: it's the best MBA program at the best school for business in the best city for business in the best state for business in the best country for business. I've already experienced the great benefit that is opened doors. Apart from this, the caliber of the students and faculty still stand out to me (not to mention the facilities) compared to other EMBA programs I evaluated.
I would have liked the opportunity to take more electives and/or get a concentration included in the price of tuition.
SMU seemed unique due to the extremely strong support of the program from the school -- top notch professors, classmates, facilities and administrators of the program.
The most obvious area for improvement was the meals that were provided were often low quality.
I believe the entrepreneurship capstone course/project was a fantastic way to pull everything together. This activity brought a new dimension to learning in an excellent way.
