Pepperdine's program is oriented towards the executive student in content, style, and vision. It is not a rehashed masters program for post-undergraduate students. I was impressed with the small classes, the care program organization, the attention to detailed displayed throughout, and the integrity displayed by all.
I would have preferred a longer more in-depth International session, however beyond that Pepperdine's program is almost perfect, I am completely satisfied with my experience and what I came away with from the program.
My classmates are diverse and bring executive level solutions to complex organizational issues. The class size is small and instructors tailor their material to the industries the class represents. Since this is a smaller program in size, the quality and experience are increased due to access to professors/staff pre- and post-graduation. I would not change it for the world!
I would like to change the overall distribution of time taking away from some courses and having more for others. Example: Less on organizational behavior, more on IT, finance, and marketing.
I got a lot of value from the cohort approach. Going through the program with the same group was similar to a real work environment where you lean and grow together to accomplish mutual objectives. You need to adjust to each persons individual personality, help each other with their weaknesses and learn from each others strengths.
There could be more focus and attention on career management; more help with recruiters looking for MBA's.
The EMBA program at Pepperdine has a full time class advisor who acts as a support in and out of the class. This is unique and incredibly helpful.
Logistically, the China portion of our international trip was poorly executed. We consistently were late for events due to logistical errors and/or unrealistic timelines. I recommend that for next time, before all students arrive, that all routes be driven ahead of time to determine feasibility of schedule.
The knowledge and skills in research and the deep dive into case studies cannot be gained without going through this program. The confidence level a person can gain interacting with other intelligent and high level executives helps greatly with improving your leadership skills.
