-The Ivey brand and long term reputation in Canada is the strongest of any of the Canadian schools. Case method of learning develops stronger decision making and leadership skills. Ivey network is one of the best in the world. Good return on investment with the 12 month program. World class professors and excellent learning facilities.
-Unless you have the initiative to design your own MBA, the offering at this school was pretty weak.
-I would recommend this program to those who would thrive in a case-based learning environment, which is certainly not for everyone. I find this type of learning far more engaging than lecture based programs because it forces you to articulate and defend your position, which advances your decision making skills. Ivey offers its students high caliber professors and other students; both of which are important participants in each student's learning process. Ivey also offers a tremendous alumni network.
-One needs to be very careful about going into a one year program. You need to be much clearer on what your goals are, you need to prepare for recruitment very quickly and you will not have the relationships that students who do internships have. Otherwise, doing it in one year is much better. I had friends in two year programs that just simply did not have enough to do. Better to make it intense and get out quicker to start earning!
-The case study method is a great way to learn and was very helpful in applying business theory to real life. Cross enterprise leadership is a great way to integrate the different silos of business decisions.
-It is challenging and enriching both personally and professionally. The combination of the program, the parent university and the town create an experience that surpasses those of other universities that I have known or been to.
-It is very simple: for people like me, who are looking for a boost in their career and an open door to the business world with the top employers, Ivey delivers. I am an engineer. I knew i have the mental horsepower to compete in the high end fields of business, all i needed was a foot in the door. Ivey delivered both in education and most defiantly with alumni relations and recruiter contacts. Ivey gave the opportunities i wanted in North America for half the cost of US schools. By far best value for money!
-If you are interested in going to a Canadian school I still feel that Ivey is the best. However, if you're looking internationally I would not consider it on par with the absolute top schools. The one year program makes financial sense, but I think that it has harmed the experience somewhat, especially without the summer internship and exchange.
-Ivey is a superior school in many respects - particularly the caliber of the class and the professors and the overall learning experience. However career management, that is touted to be the best in Canada, falls short of expectations that were built before I joined Ivey. To be fair, career management does a great job in polishing the resume through a process that they have mastered long ago, however, in terms of helping in other aspects of the job search and keeping students in the loop of placement rates, it sadly falls sharply behind.
-The Ivey program shows that less is more. I got in, and in only 12 months (11 months net) learned a huge deal about business, landed a job in a top tier consulting firm and all with minimal MBA expenses in comparison to other schools. School is very intimate and friendly and great emphasis was made on making us ready for interviews and recruiters. Thumbs up!
-My MBA experience could have been better if the school has done a better job at marketing the program. Outside of Canada, Ivey is still not as well known as some American B-schools that are of lower quality and prestige.
-The case based program at Ivey was a big part of my decision to attend. The lecture style used at most other schools is not as conducive to my learning style.
-Ivey was a great choice. I felt that its Career Management group thoroughly prepared students to enter into their desired field - and this is met by the success at placement ratings. The administration allows the students independence to run their own events, and craft the type of MBA that they want.
