  • SCHOOL COMMENTS

      • School Comments: Goizueta's unique ability to deliver a world-class business education with the advantage of a small, intimate learning environment and the benefits global, dynamic city continues to attract top MBA candidates who have been tremendously successful in a difficult job market.
      • -A sound business education at Emory really helped me to structure my experiences in the military in order to be successful in the civilian business world. I would recommend this school to all of my friends, because it is very supportive of military entering the civilian work force and equips them with tools to be successful.

-Goizueta is a great choice for someone who is looking to work in Atlanta or New York and offers many opportunities to network in the areas of marketing and consulting. The course work is challenging but not overly difficult and the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and community is especially strong.

-While the Goizueta name is well respected, because it is small and not near any other major MBA programs, it isn't always feasible for recruiters to come do on-campus interviews, so the students have an uphill battle getting considered for positions. Additionally, the new curriculum has been an experiment, and while there are some benefits, I do not believe the administration has been receptive enough to feedback from the students about what's working and what's not with the new curriculum.

-I was really impressed with the course offerings, as with the quality of the teachers. The Center for Alternative Investment classes were really educational and interesting. The program office did a good job of responding to our feedback.

-The size of the program can have both positive and negative implications. On the one hand, such a small school makes faculty readily accessible and, more importantly, generally eager to interact with students. On the flip side, the small size creates a very small school feel which gives students a chance to get close to each other as a group, but also breeds a hyper competitive atmosphere. On this end, though, highly competitive educational environments seem to be part and parcel of the educational setting for all top business schools, so while this isn't always the most beneficial way to learn, it's really par for the course.

-The culture is very collaborative with students helping each other practice for interviews, even if they're going for the same job. If anyone has a relative who falls ill, the entire school is there to support him/her with meals, flowers, notes, etc. This camaraderie extends to alumni as well. Alumni are very responsive and willing to meet with students and mentor them regarding their respective industries. Community outreach and servant leadership are inherent in Goizueta's DNA.

-My experience at Emory was amazing, I really learned a lot about core business (which I do not have a background in) and I have exceeded my previous communication and presentation skills.

-I found Goizueta to be a transformational experience and I have no regrets about attending. However, I felt more challenged by the time management necessary than the actual quality of lessons and my classmates.

-I am grateful to Emory for giving me a full-tuition scholarship and a small stipend, which I wouldn't have received at any other top-ranked business school. Being from Bulgaria, my pre-MBA income was fairly low so I found it hard to imagine taking a $100,000+ loan to attend a top-10 business school.

-I was in the accelerated one-year MBA program, which fit nicely with my age, experience, and career plans. I would urge others who are not career switchers to follow the same path.

-As an alum of the one-year program, I strongly believe that the lower opportunity cost (as compared to the two-year program) outweighs the loss of an internship opportunity. Determined, driven individuals will be able to find jobs and even change careers without an internship, and they'll save nearly $30K and a year of work experience in the process.

-The program was ideally suited to a student with an undergraduate education (or significant experience in) business. The number of elective courses available was a huge asset, it allowed me to customize my program to a great extent.

-Extremely poor career management center. They are more of a pain than a help to students.

-Goizueta is the best kept secret in business schools. Students receive a very well-balanced experience with rigorous academics, an emphasis on leadership, a tight-knit community, and great job prospects. The school doesn't force students to enter one career or another but supports them to pursue whatever career path they desire--be it entrepreneurship, working with a small/mid-size company, or the more traditional consulting/i-banking/CPG route.
