Comments from Student 1:
I scheduled my interview with CIMBA via email. As I was at work in Nigeria and my interviewer was located in Italy, the interview had to take place over the phone. In fact, I stood beside a parked trailer on an industrial road, and conducted the interview over my mobile! The individual who interviewed me was the Director of the CIMBA program to which I had applied.
I was very impressed by his level of preparedness. Few people can correctly pronounce my name, and my interviewer had researched the pronunciation!
The questions were like critical reasoning questions: could I estimate the number of gas stations in a particular region? If I couldn't, what else would I want to know? Why are manholes round? Did I know where certain places were etc.
I appreciated that the phone call was punctual, but the differences in time zones between Nigeria and Italy did create some difficulty. The Interviewer surprised me by asking me if I had questions for him, when I was expecting him to ask me questions first. He thought my questions were good ones. All in all, we were on the phone for about an hour.
I found the whole interview experience a wonderful learning experience.
