Last year, in response to growing student interest, GSM implemented an extensive Career Seminar Series for EMBA (and our other executive degree) students. The program includes career assessment and career direction instruments; workshops on resume preparation, interviewing, and job search strategies; industry panels and guest speakers; and individual counseling. GSM has also found that companies are eager to gain access to some of its EMBA students and graduates as the hunt for talent reaches almost epic dimensions. This is accomplished with great sensitivity to those situations where companies are sponsoring employees.
In keeping with its general theme of MBA courses taught in a context of Information Technology for Management (ITM), GSM has developed internally a comprehensive mechanism, called Catalyst, by which EMBA students, faculty, and staff manage and extend the learning process through a sophisticated IT infrastructure. Increasingly, the ITM approach is being integrated into the course work in the EMBA program.

UC Irvine EMBA students take Global Business II, a one-week international residential which gives them an opportunity to understand global strategic imperatives for the coming century. All costs for the international residential are included in the EMBA program tuition, except air fare. The Fall 1999 residential took place in Prague and Vienna. Previous locations included Brussels, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
