There have been ongoing advances in the program to assure maximum ROI for both students and sponsoring organizations. A School of Management Advisory Council (including EMBA Alumni) assists the school in assuring that curriculum and program delivery methods are consistent with the requirements of our sponsoring organizations to compete effectively in their individual markets. A week-long business simulation has been offered the last three years to expose second year students to a totally integrated critical business decision making process--a way to move aggressively into the second year of the EMBA Program following a three month summer hiatus. This fall, a first year two-day business simulation is being introduced to initiate integrated thinking to the students as they initially begin their 21 month commitment. This, combined with a series of specific industry lectures during Orientation week, is the basis for integrated "systems thinking" among students which should be the basis of relevant curriculum application for the balance of the program.

The University of Iowa intends to offer an international component (including a trip) for the second year of the class entering in the fall of 2000. When this occurs, the intent is to make the trip mandatory and integrate it totally throughout the entire 21 months of the program.
