Description This program attracts executives, business owners, and professionals from Wisconsin and surrounding states and features teaching by UW faculty, including the dean. Concentrated modules include up-to-the-minute management issues, economics, finance, marketing, communications, ethics, and operations management. The school reports that the program receives at least 20 inquiries for every seat in the program. (30-32 students are admitted each year.)

Students attend class for a total of 46 class days a year for two years. EMBA students have overnight accommodations available to them and meals are provided in Grainger Hall. Cost of the program is $19,000 per year.

Description This course teaches non financial executives how to communicate with their company’s financial professionals to get the information they need to use as a management tool. It helps executives understand the correlation between their decisions and the financial success of the organization and to make the best decisions to enhance profitability.

The course employs case studies and hands-on experience with balance sheets, income statements, and cash-flow analysis. It seeks to explain key calculations that enhance understanding of a firm’s profitability. Cost is $1,395.

Description Four national economists share their views of the nation’s economy and offer their projections and predictions at this semi-annual Economic Outlook Conference which has been held on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus for over 20 years. The conference is sponsored by the UW-Madison’s Management Institute. Economists offer their predictions on what the following year will bring in terms of employment, growth, the GNP, inflation, business conditions and international development, and the other components of the economic picture. Cost is $275.

Description Business leaders with proven expertise in working with organizations in a number of countries provide clients with the information and insights needed for success. Students learn the how-tos of transnational planning as a prelude to negotiation, become aware of reasons for blunders and successes in sourcing and marketing, and gain practice in dealing with group-focused business cultures.

Description This series is designed to give project managers comprehensive business knowledge and skills necessary to lead and manage projects.
