DURK JAGER
Former president and CEO, Procter & Gamble
Durk I. Jager became chairman of the board, president and chief executive of
Procter & Gamble on
September 1, 1999. Previously he was president and chief executive, the position
he assumed in January 1999.
A native of Haskerland, The Netherlands, Mr. Jager graduated from Erasmus
Universiteit, Rotterdam, in 1970. He joined Procter & Gamble in 1970.
He became general manager of Procter & Gamble Japan in 1985 and vice president
in 1987.
In 1988, Mr. Jager was named group vice president, with responsibility for
P&G's Far East and Asia Pacific Divisions. In 1989, he was elected to the
Procter & Gamble Board of Directors. In 1990 he was elected executive
vice president with responsibility for the Soap, Chemicals, Health Care and
Beauty Care divisions. In 1991 he was named executive vice president with
overall responsibility for the company's U.S. business. He was named president
and chief operating officer in 1995.
Mr. Jager is a member of the Board of Directors of Eastman Kodak, the United
Negro College Fund, and the Board of Governors of the Nature Conservancy. He
is chairman of the Japan-America Society of Greater Cincinnati, and a member of
the International Council, J.P. Morgan & Co.
