VIJAY GOVINDARAJAN
Earl C. Daum 1924 Professor of International Business, The Tuck School
Professor Govindarajan received his BC from Annamalai University in 1969; his MBA from
Harvard University in 1976; and his DBA from Harvard University in 1978.
He has served
as staff accountant, B.B. Naidu & Co., 1969-72; accounts officer, The Delhi Cloth &
General Mills Ltd., 1972-73; associate professor, Indian Institute of Management,
1978-80; visiting associate professor at Harvard University, 1980-81; Associate
Professor, Ohio State University, 1981-85; and Earl C. Daum Professor at Tuck since
1985.
Professor Govindarajan is ranked by Management International Review as one of the top
20 North American superstars for research in strategy and organization, and was
named among the "Outstanding Faculty" in Business Week's Guide to the Best B-Schools, 1993,
1995, 1997, and 1999. He has won a Notable Contribution to the Management Accounting
Literature Award from the American Accounting Association, 1995; was named in the "Top
10 Professors in Corporate Executive Education" by Business Week in 1993; won the
Glueck Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management, 1991, and the Outstanding
Teaching Award from the Indian Institute of Management for both 1978-79 and 1979-80.
