Business Week's B-school rankings are determined by student and recruiter survey feedback. In October, 1998, the magazine evaluated 61 schools -- the largest pool of programs it has reviewed to date, and received responses from 6,020 graduates, for a response rate of 63%. Meanwhile, 259 companies sent back questionnaires, for a 74% response rate. Using the results, 1998's Top 25 ranking was established. B-schools outside the Top 25 -- the Runners Up and Third-Tier -- were not ranked. Instead, they are listed above alphabetically.
