Graduates' Comments:

I think BU's Graduate School of Management is pretty cool, as is the city of Boston. BU emphasizes teamwork exercises more than anything else. Yet, we still have a lot of individual assignments to work on. The course load is somewhat heavy throughout four semesters. However, my MBA experience here is not mainly inside the classroom. I have tremendous contacts outside BU too. The Asia networking level here in Boston is huge and powerful. --Consulting

The Health Care Management Program at the BU Grad School of Management is excellent. This program educated me about the management issues of the American health-care system in such a way that I could hit the ground running with my summer internship and now in my full-time job with the same institution. In many meetings I find that I have more understanding of the current issues than many of my peers. BU also has an excellent MIS program with professors who truly lead the world in theory integrating IT and business strategy. I was able to apply these concepts to health-care IT, where I am already making an impact on my organization. --Information Technology

I participated in Boston University's Health Care Management Concentration, which was an excellent program. Some of the best qualities of the program are: the required internship, the generous use of guest speakers in the classes, the quality of the professors, and the projects with local companies. --Consulting

The $104 million new school building has provided the environment and state-of-the-art technology which greatly enhanced the classroom learning experience. Also, 33% of the students are international students. They will provide a strong alumni network in many regions, especially Asia, Middle East, and Latin America. The school has not been very strong in student placement in the last five years. However, the Career Center has improved tremendously over the past year. In the next few years, it should greatly enhance the "marketability" of BU's MBAs. --Consulting

The new building -- opened in 1996 -- housing BU's school of management has contributed a great deal to the school and the curriculum's excellence. With state-of-the-art technology (including data ports in every classroom, at every desk), break-out rooms for team work, a Team Learning Center, and an aesthetically pleasing environment in which to learn, I would recommend the Boston University MBA. --Consulting
The new School of Management Building has greatly enhanced the experience for the students. The Building was designed largely with an emphasis on 1) Teamwork and 2) Utilizing technology to enhance the learning experience. Furthermore, the modern technology in the School of Management has already been very well integrated into the entire learning experience. --Information Technology

My concentration was in health care. The faculty are very knowledgeable and active in their fields, and the administrative staff is dedicated. The concentration was more directly useful to me. However the core MBA courses in particular provided me with significant team-work experience and a broader way of viewing/analyzing and proposing solutions. The teamwork was very useful in understanding how people work together and reasons for different approaches. It has made me more aware in my working life of "people dynamics." I would highly recommend this MBA and in particular the Health Care program. Less volume could have been beneficial to allow more in-depth understanding, however. --Business Manager

I went to BU for its nonprofit program. That niche program at BU is excellent: the students and faculty involved in nonprofit/public management are outwardly focused, responsible, and mature individuals with capacity to be ideal leaders in communities worldwide. --Unemployed

BU's public management/nonprofit program is top notch! I learned many practical things in my classes that are now very useful to me as a nonprofit manager. There were many excellent professors in the PM and general program who taught me a lot and were very willing to share their management experiences with my classmates and I as well as their out-of-class time to make sure that we understood important concepts and management tools. The PM program's very strong alumni support ensured that I had excellent, relevant internship experiences, plenty of managers in the field to network with and get career guidance from, as well as a professional mentor who gave me great advice and support throughout my MBA experience. --No job track given

The general program is full of intelligent international students who made classroom discussion more interesting and diverse. My team experiences were wonderful and terrific personal growth opportunities. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to be a nonprofit or public manager. You get excellent, specialized knowledge tailored for the nonprofit and public sectors as well as a sold MBA education. --Director of Development and Finance

The school should put more effort to improve the quality of instruction rather than to build modern facilities only. --Analyst

The facilities at BU are superb! The management building is equipped to provide all the support one could possibly ask for (including a first-rate dedicated business school library, widespread Internet access, numerous breakout rooms, podium access for practicing presentation, three computer labs, Breadwinners cafe...the list goes on!). These facilities allowed me to learn, practice with, and perfect the use of cutting-edge technologies that will be crucial in my future business endeavors. --No job track given

The diverse student population is another huge plus. Never before have I been exposed to such a stimulating environment, where I am constantly working in teams with high-caliber students from every continent. Not only did this vastly improve the quality of class discussions, but it also contributed greatly toward the program's extracurricular activities (which incorporated a variety of international clubs and societies as well as numerous highly entertaining social events!). --No job track given

BU's team learning approach to its curriculum was a major draw for me - and I was not disappointed. The mix of internal class work and external team projects with businesses in the Boston area was just right, allowing for an effective platform for practical application and learning. The career center has been the only weak area, but it has noticeably improved during my time here. With the move into the new building, and the addition of a few motivated staff members, the center has become considerably more aggressive in bringing in top-notch employers. There is still room for improvement, but I certainly see the signs. Things that have improved include the introduction of a weekly career news letter, an online interview scheduling service, higher caliber recruiters, increased career workshops and greater liaison between the center and the MBA student council for career panels. On the whole, you can clearly tell that I am a satisfied customer! --Consulting

BU has made a lot of effort in making the MBA program a good learning experience. The school building is well-equipped to enhance the learning process. For example, there are computer ports along corridor, meeting rooms for students, classrooms are equipped with high-tech equipment to faciliate teaching and learning. Most BU professors are very helpful toward students and have excellent knowledge in their field. Extracurricular activities such as Case Competition not only help to promote the school's reputation, but also allow students to be evaluated by industry practioners. However, I wish BU had put more effort into bringing more finance companies to recruit on campus. --Finance

Boston University is an MBA program on the rise, both in terms of its physical infrastructure and curriculum. Our new management building is second to none in technological amenities. What is needed is for the school to make sustained improvements in the quality of faculty and the curriculum, so that we may consistently appear in the middle of the second tier. --Project Manager
