STRATEGY FOR APPLICANTS
You might think of Arizona State as a regional school, but the MBA program is drawing more and more students from more meteorologically challenged regions of the country -- about 65 percent of the Class of 2000 came from outside the Southwest. And while it's not one of the most selective B-schools in the Top 50, you should know up front that unless you have two years of full-time work experience, you needn't apply -- with very few exceptions, that's a prerequisite to entering the program.

You'll have to submit two separate applications, one to the ASU Graduate College and another to the MBA program, to be considered for the B-school; if you're aiming to pursue a dual degree, you'll have to add a third application to the joint program as well. The admissions office says successful candidates show "evidence of maturity, academic potential, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally." Personal interviews are encouraged, but not required (only 20 percent of the Class of 2000 interviewed on campus).
