STRATEGY FOR APPLICANTS
Babcock is one of the very few B-schools that actually invite applicants to call up its top administrators and ask questions about the program. As the school puts it, "Every applicant has access to the directors of admissions and financial aid, career services, and the dean through our toll-free numberÖ.Personal attention in the admissions process distinguishes Wake Forest from other MBA programs and is indicative of students' experiences here." The school says it seeks candidates who "have demonstrated potential for management careers through academic achievement, professional experience, and extracurricular activitiesÖ.We also look for evidence of leadership ability, teamwork skills, and a strong sense of values."

On-campus interviews are strongly recommended -- not quite half of those admitted to the Class of `98 interviewed with admissions officers in Winston-Salem. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are set aside for interviews, campus tours, and lunch with a current student; after January 1, you must have your application in before making an appointment. Call the admissions office to arrange your visit. If you submit your application by the early decision deadline of December 1, you'll have an answer by Christmas; those seeking financial aid should have paperwork in by March 1, with the deadline for applying for 10 full-tuition scholarships February 15.
