Graduates' Comments:

What really sets Goizueta apart from other business schools, though, is our culture. Competition with oneself is stressed and the ability to successfully work in a team is paramount. A great example of this is the cooperation between students when preparing for the same interview. Students leadership and contribution to the community are also hallmarks of the school and the impact that students have on the school is significant and lasting. Students have been instrumental in developing and implementing new programs that have improved the overall quality of life and our interviewing success (to name but a few areas). With our move into a new state-of-the-art building complete, a rapidly growing endowment, recent additions to an already great faculty, and a new Dean arriving in July, I am confident that GBS will continue to produce some of the best and brightest new business leaders in the world. --Consulting

Areas of excellence include: A culture that promotes teamwork, participation and cooperation; Students ideas and concerns are highly regarded and changes are made based on student input; Professors, administrators and students really care about the school and consistently strive to improve many aspects of the learning environment; The Marketing and Organization & Management fields of study are particularly strong; Career services have improved dramatically over the two years I have been at Emory. --No career path given

Areas for improvement include: More emphasis needs to be placed on integrating Information technology into the curriculum. Currently there are too few courses and they do not provide an indepth approach to the subject; The process for selecting international students needs to be more rigorous and competitive. --Consulting

I was impressed by the following characteristics of the Gozuieta School of Business. First, the technology used in the teaching process. Second, the faculty -- many of whom consult for major corporations in their respective fields; 99% of whom (they all can't be perfect) took the time to help any student whenever asked; many of whom I would not hesitate to call to ask advice or discuss an idea. Third, the curriculum's emphasis on balance between study-life and opportunities for extra-curricular activities which allow students to get to know classmates and improve leadership skills. Fourth, the student body -- a close, cohesive group, maybe due to its relatively small size. While competition is encouraged, it is not done at the expense of teamwork. I was impressed by the level of maturity, interpersonal skills and leadership qualities of my classmates. --Consulting

I felt that there were a few things about the Giozutea experience that were unique among business schools (at least in comparison to other institutions where friends and colleagues have been or are, i.e., Fuqua, Columbia, Wharton). The most outstanding of these is the closeness of the community. People all know each other and pull for each other to succeed be they professors, administration, graduate students or undergraduates. They show this dedication by always being available to each other for academic help, career advice or access to people in their networks. This is also evident in the close relationships that form between students and professors. My impression is that this is different than most other places and in my opinion a great benefit in the educational experience. --Consulting

One of the many ways to make business decisions (including business school decisions) is to perform a financial assessment of the investment. In other words, what is the return on investment (ROI) of the business school investment. I am confident that the combination of Emory's outstanding and devoted faculty, its talented and diverse student body, and the scholarships that it has to offer make Emory University one of the best values for an MBA education.--No career path given

By attending Emory University I was able to triple my earning potential without incurring any MBA-related debt during the last two years. Furthermore, I was able to interview with every company that I desired (McKinsey, Deliotte & Touche, SmithKline Beecham, Merck, Coca-Cola, UPS, etc.). My education at Emory provided everything that I hoped an MBA education would and the scholarship opportunities at Emory exceeded my expectations. In short, I could not be happier with the professors that I have had, the education that I have received, the friendships that I have established, and the investment that I made. --Consulting

I have been nothing less than 100% satisfied with my experience at the Goizueta Business School. First, the building is first-rate. Second, the instructors do a great job of preparing students for real world business problems. Most encourage their students to keep in touch after graduation. Third, GBS offers a number of academic scholarships for those who might feel financially impeded. Fourth, the 30%+ level of international students adds a unique perspective to the learning process. Fifth, the quality of life and low cost of living in Atlanta is virtually insurmountable by other top business schools. Students incur less debt due to living expenses, and have a vast array of entertainment offerings, while enjoying a temperate climate. Lastly, the students have significant input into the direction of the school and are encouraged to take the initiative to effect change. Students were representatives on the dean selection board, and all students decisions were weighed by the board in making the final decision. --Consulting

The Goizueta Business School at Emory University provided excellent opportunities to make a difference in the school's direction. There were countless numbers of leadership opportunities and the administration encouraged student input emphatically. There is a real sense of change at GBS with the new building and student enthusiasm for the school. Located in the heart of a major city, most students had opportunities to complement their academic study with real-world work experience during the school year. The balance of student competitiveness and teamwork was ideal. The depth and breadth of student diversity and work experience provided stimulating and engaging class discussions. This also enabled me to learn a lot from my classmates. I made a lot of friends and established a strong base of contacts that will last me a lifetime! --Consulting

Goizueta was everything I wanted and more. A small, friendly teaching environment with a world-class program in a world-class city. The faculty were easily accessible for extra help, career advice, or even a round of golf. I made just the right contacts and many friends along the way. I will keep in touch with them long after I have left the program. The new building and the new dean are the just the beginning of the latest changes. The dean and administration were always responsive to students and held many town hall and SAG (Student Advisory Groups) meetings. I can't imagine this type of behavior in my days at Wharton. The MBAs are actively challenged to improve the school, so each year's class voluntarily raises the bar for the next year's class. --Consulting

The Goizueta Business School changed dramatically during the time I attended. Radical staff changes in the career services offices helped to significantly increase the number and quality of companies that come to recruit on campus. Innovative new programs such as mandatory individual career consultations and targeted career fairs/career panels in the career services office, in addition to excellent new admissions/recruiting support programs, provided a great foundation for attracting fantastic students and helping them to become even better alumni. I was extremely pleased with the relationships I was able to develop with professors due to the small size of the program and their individual and collective enthusiasm. Emory greatly exceeded my expectations and has helped me to launch a career doing exactly what I had hoped to do after attaining my MBA. Emory is an excellent place to grow as a leader because the adminstration and faculty are both extremely open to student initiatives and efforts. --Marketing

GBS is a small program and its students are inspired and empowered to affect change. For example, the majority of students are involved in Student Advisory Groups, created to work with the faculty and administration in areas such as curriculum, admissions, career services, and technology. Another group of students designed and created a Web-accessible alumni database in order to improve alumni networking. Perhaps the most unique aspect about my experience here has been the students' incredible commitment to make positive changes to an already highly regarded MBA program and the administration's continuous support and interest in student involvement. --Finance

The facility is world-class with the latest technology integrated into all classrooms. With the smaller size of the program, professors were readily available outside of class to discuss course material, career issues, etc. The diversity of student backgrounds greatly contributed to classroom discussions. --Finance

I found my classmates to be incredibly talented as a group and as individuals. Additionally, the diversity among students was immense. I worked closely with classmates from at least a dozen different countries on team projects, and found that my American classmates had a broad range of experiences, strengths, desires, and interests. A+ for teamwork and diversity. --Finance

I was in the three semester program at Emory. I feel that this program is a great opportunity for people with undergraduate degrees in business and at least three years of work experience. I probably would not have pursued an MBA if the three-semester program were not an option. --Finance

Overall, a great program. It was well worth the 2 years and costs involved. The smaller classes allowed for much interaction between students and faculty. High quality students also added positively to the learning experience. Not only individual focus, but teamwork based activities and projects provided a good feel for actual business world problem solving. Opportunities to go abroad and to learn from GBS's diverse student body were also a definite plus. I would highly recommend GBS to everyone looking to improve their business knowledge base and advance their career. --Finance

I was a member of the one-year MBA program at Emory. This was an excellent program that allowed me to capitalize on my undergraduate business background and complete the core classes during the summer and then jump right into second-year electives. There is no better way to undertake MBA studies. --Finance

Personally, coming back to get my MBA was a wonderful choice; one that allowed me the greater time and opportunity to develop and pursue those issues which were to be more impacting on, and neccesary for, my future carrer choice, than I would have otherwise had the opportunity for, had I pursued other avenues for career advancement. The smaller class size was a plus, the access to leadership figures wonderful, and the response on behalf of the school, its faculty and curriculum to my specific needs ideal. All in all, a considerable benfit to my future. Key developments include lead-week modules at the beginning of each semester, including business simulation, topic-specific seminars, and foreign/domestic travel as well as newly developed Student Advisory Groups (SAGs) to facilitate student-led feedback and participation throughout nearly every aspect of the MBA program. --Finance

My goal going back to school was to move from public relations into brand management/marketing for an Internet-related company. I have accomplished that goal and I had a fantastic experience along the way. GBS manages to find students who are not only smart but are nice, thoughtful and caring (not adjectives normally used to describe b-school students). I came to business school to be challenged and to learn a specific set of skills. GBS also encourages its students to guide the school in the direction we see fit -- the attitude is if you do not see something and it makes sense then we will add it to the curriculum, make it part of the administration or change the policy. Finally, I truly appreciated the efforts of the CSO (career services office). Samantha Renfro and her staff have been unbelievably helpful even though I mainly used my own connections for my job search. --Marketing(Internet/Web Development)

I began as an evening student and became a full-time student in the second year. I studied abroad for one semester in Singapore with Emory's partner school, Nanyang Technological University. I took a "customized" study course that pertained to my personal interest under the guidance of a Emory professor. I interned with a company between my first and second years. I had the opportunity of taking classes with 5 different MBA classes: MBA Program 98,99, Evening Program 98,99, and Singapore's (NTU) Class of 1999. --Marketing

Emory surpassed every expectation I had about B-school. The caliber of students could not be topped -- my classmates were not only extremely bright and accomplished but interesting people who I genuinely enjoyed spending time with. Because of the school's size, professors know all of the students and are very receptive to our questions and concerns. During the two years, I can name at least eight occasions where professors invited students to their homes, out for a beer, or hosted parties for us. Almost all the professors are extremely committed to the students and are interested in helping us succeed both in and outside of school. I don't think you can ask for a better two years. --Marketing (Internet marketing)

An outstanding experience. The accessibility of the professors to students is a unique strength of the program that deserves special note. My MBA experience was greatly enhanced by the emphasis on teamwork that facilitated peer learning throughout the program. --Marketing

I believe that the education that I received at Goizueta Business School of Emory University is comparable to that of any business school in the country. Over the past two years, the faculty and staff have made tremendous efforts to be responsive to students in terms of career placement, course selection, interview preparation, and information technology. The administration is behind the students, and everyone is working together to strive toward improvement. Above all, my classmates were the strongest asset during my two years. --Marketing

I had a extremely fulfilling experience at the Goizueta Business School. While many business school students at other schools look forward to graduation day and receiving their diplomas, I am sorry to be leaving such a tremendous, nurturing learning institution. Whether in team meetings or on the golf course, I was able to take advantage of the intellect and diversity shared by my classmates. GBS professors and students alike look to create a supportive environment in which to excel both in and outside of the classroom. To the extent that you see something that you would like to happen within the curriculum, the administration gives you the reigns and resources to realize it. --Marketing

After working with several clients in advertising that graduated from "Top 5" business schools and working with more students/alumni from these schools during my brand management internship at Coca-Cola last summer, I know that The Goizueta Business School of Emory University is a program that belongs at least in the "Top 15." GBS has given me everything I could have asked for from an MBA. I have learned from the best Professors, I have been able to hear/meet former heads of state (i.e. Jimmy Carter), I have heard/met CEOs from some of the country's most successful companies, and I have been able to prepare myself for the global business community of the 21st century by studying at one of the many international exchange programs offered. --Marketing

My business-school selection process, two years ago, was very thorough. I attended classes and interviewed students, staff and faculty in more than five top-tier schools. These experiences, together with all the written information I gathered on other twenty (top-25) schools, made of the Goizueta Business School my first choice. No other school has so many high-quality resources (eg. faculty, computers, international opportunities) per student. The smaller-than-average size of its MBA student body allows one-to-one relationships with professors. All of them know you by name. There is a special sense of higher purpose among all students, staff and faculty in this school. You can perceive an interior commitment to the highest ethical standards, and you can see the Roberto Goizueta legacy of adding economic value constantly applied in all activities. Finally, I have seen at Emory that the rigorous academic standards blend perfectly with the "Atlanta hospitality" to yield the teamwork environment and the quality of leaders that any corporation desires. --Marketing (International Business)

- The best part of attending GBS was the openness with which the administration and faculy allowed and encouraged my class to get involved in the momentum and growth of the program. Our class was especially proactive about forming comittees to address different aspects of the program. For example, we formed a number of student advisory groups (SAG) to work to improve many important school areas, from career services to Admissions to curriculum change. In the two years we've been here, we were able to see our ideas and work effecting positive change at GBS. My class was particularly demanding of the GBS administration, yet we were always encouraged and given the resources we needed to make changes and influence the future of the program. This type of impact would have been nearly impossible in a much bigger program. Emory's small size really enabled us to take real leadership roles in the continuing development of the program. --Marketing

My decision to attend the Goizueta Business School at Emory University over Wharton or Harvard was based in large part to the availability of a one-year accelerated, full-time MBA program for undergraduate business majors. The accelerated program was difficult to be sure. I was very pleased with the results of my decision. The Goizueta Business School was an excellent "strategy" school, which complemented my more analytical undergraduate degree from the Dupree School of Management at Georgia Tech. The marketing department at the Goizueta Business School was particularly sharp with what I would consider world class instruction. --Operations
