STUDENT COMMENTS
Saint Joseph's Haub School of business is committed to the students in every aspect. In all courses at SJU, Business and Arts and Science, professors place a strong focus on ethics.
Management majors do not get the same help that accounting or marketing majors get.
There are so many opportunities offered for those who want to take advantage of them. It is up to the student to decide how he/she wants to utilize these resources.
St. Joseph's Haub School of Business and The Academy of Food Marketing have challenged me throughout my four years here and have made me confident that I am ready to take on the chal
The school blatantly favors accounting majors, basically handing them an internship for a semester and guaranteeing them a job after school. The rest of us have to fend for ourselves and find our own opportunities without any help. And especially with marketing, most internships are unpaid and uninspiring.
A lot of the teachers in the business school are adjuncts who have full time jobs and just teach on the side. Although this makes them experienced in the real world, I don't think they're very good at teaching the material.
Our school is known for its food marketing and accounting programs. They really seem to be the only two industries that are coming to hire students this fall.
I am a five-year co-op student so I have gotten much more added work experience and internships are the key to this.
Security seems to be the only issue as of late. Being in Philadelphia doesn't help. A more restrictive and controlled campus environment could help.
Undergraduate business programs focus too much on theory and not real-world application.
I am leaving SJU a more mature person whom is ready to compete in the business world.
The Cooperative Learning Program at Saint Joseph's University for food marketing majors is outstanding. The quality of the companies and positions available truly have prepared me and made me a marketable asset prior to fully entering the industry.
I am completely satisfied with my business school experience. The class size and faculty-to-student ratio provide for a personalized learning environment. The prestigious accreditation of my business school, the unique programs offered, and the reputation result in the interest of great companies concerning jobs and internships. I feel well prepared to enter the business world following graduation.
I thought that Saint Joseph's undergraduate program did an effective job of giving students a taste of the different sectors of the business world (finance, management, accounting, marketing, etc.). What I think really distinguishes Saint Joseph's from other universities is the Jesuit philosophy that is at the core of every class at the school (business and nonbusiness courses). The concept of doing the right thing give students more than just busniess-related knowledge and skills.
The only thing I wish St. Joe's did a little better was helping students find jobs when we are not going to be in the area after graduation. The school focuses a lot of attention (which I think they should) on the Philadelphia area, but I wish they extend beyond.
The business program, especially the accounting program, at St. Joseph's University exceeded all expectations I had coming in. It prepared and challenged me to the point that I became extremely comfortable when I went into my internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers, and excelled in my work because of the background and skills St. Joe's has provided me.
Most of the teachers are very intelligent and pass on their knowledge, but a few are dumb and there for the paycheck.
The Haub School of Business is not just academics within an individual's major, but also within the student-run organizations on campus. I am a pharmaceutical marketing major, but I am also the president of the Entrepreneurship Club. I am one of many students who choose to participate in organizations of interest, to expand our horizons beyond the undergraduate majors provided.
My business policy class put all of my four years of undergraduate studies to use and made use of everything I learned.
The pharmaceutical marketing program has given me such an edge in the industry, which I noticed when I started my internship in the summer. I was able to immediately contribute on a brand team for one of the largest drugs, in one of the largest pharma companies in the world.
I am so proud of what the Haub School of Business program at Saint Joseph's University has become. We are now the largest Jesuit business school in the country, but we have not outgrown our values. The Jesuit mission of constant personal growth in order to become "men and women with and for others" is lived out in the business school through the courses offered and they wonderful professors who teach them.
I am food marketing student in the co-op program. I feel out of all the programs in the Business School, this one by far is the best at career placement. I could not be any more pleased with the the internships. I have been challenged more than I could have ever wished for, especially in my last internship with Stirrings.I could not be any happier with the Food Marketing Program as a whole.
