What special programs are available to business students?
Minors in International Business, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, and Supply Chain. Real-time Financial Trading Room -- Student access to industry market data and software tools. The Nittany Lion Fund -- Student-managed investment fund with over $4.5 million and 69 investors.


Work study or co-op opportunities Yes
The college does not require students to complete a work study or co-op experience. However, the college sponsors its own internship program along with a University level program. Annually 48% of the students in each graduating class has completed one or more internships.
Study abroad opportunities Yes
Annually over 375 business students study abroad in over 100 programs sponsored by the college's International Programs office or Penn State's Study Abroad Office. Students study abroad for a full semester or for six weeks during the summer.
Volunteer and community service opportunities Yes
Freshman complete a community service project as part of their Freshman Seminar. Students in the accelerated business program complete an annual community service project. Business fraternities and organizations conduct volunteer work annually. Business students through various organizations support and mangage all aspects of the Penn State Dance Marathon which is the largest student philanthropic event in the country raising $4,210,000 last year for pediatric cancer.

Smeal College sponsors over 20 business clubs, business fraternities and honorary scholastic organizations. Smeal College, along with CSIS of Wash. DC, co-sponsors an annual CEO simulation competition for business students. Students participate in Case Competitions at Johnson & Johnson, Inc, Syracuse Univ., Univ. of Arizona and the Marshall International Case Competiton at USC. Business students sponsor an annual student diversity conference focused on leadership and business.
