STUDENT COMMENTS
Strong sense of community within Fisher, faculty, and staff that want students to succeed. Great resources, excellent and up-to-date facilities, proud feeling to be involved with Fisher.
There are two things that The Ohio State University takes seriously, its business school and its football team. Both should be ranked #1!
Professors in the Honors Accounting program seem to enjoy their research more than their teaching. Thus accounting theory is taught more so than accounting practice resulting in us not being quite so prepared for a real business experience. Furthermore, the career services office is more concerned about streamlining all of their students through their very basic "mock interview program" than educating students on the recruiting process as far as timelines are concerned and what to expect from employers.
Being involved in the Honors Accounting Program at Ohio State allowed me to distinguish myself from the rest of the thousands of people vying for the same job as me. The benefits from the Honors program provided me with the opportunity to make friends with teachers that had a lot of influence on the way things were taught at OSU. My old professor was the Dean of the School. He knows me and my other Honors classmates by name; that tends to help out when you need a letter of recommendation. However, even if I wasn't in the Honors program the Business school makes you feel like you are unique to them through resume building sessions, mock interviews, the countless number of business clubs, the information sessions on recent topics of debate with reputable orators and career fair days. In addition, their requirement to obtain an intership through their program allows you to be better prepared for interviews and finding jobs as if you were their only student/client.
The Ohio State University is one of the largest universities nationwide; yet Fisher College of Business is a familiar network of friends and family. It has prepared me for my internship and is in the process of preparing me for a career. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of the Fisher family.
Overall, my business program is excellent.
The Honors Accounting Program has impacted my college experience greatly. Initially, I was a marketing major and did not even consider accounting as a major. However, I applied to the program because I had to take an introductory course and thought the program might be interesting. Three years later, I am thrilled that I was able to partake in the experience this program provides. I have made life-long friendships and am now much more prepared for the business world. I will enter the accounting profession in audit at a Big Four Public Accounting firm and I look forward to the opportunities my future holds.
This school has endless resources, and they continue to incorporate them and make you aware of all the advantages at your fingertips. I have not had one professor who did not have at least 5 years experience in their respective work areas. I feel I definitely have an advantage over competing job candidates.
Our business program has done its best to distinguish itself from the whole of OSU's campus and has created a sort of mini-campus feel. There is a strong sense of the Fisher College community that is really fostered by the number of business specific organizations, faculty involvement, and the creation of the business school's student publication—
Fisher Ink. Even in such a large institution like OSU, I have felt like more than a name in the college and have enjoyed my experience.
The faculty and staff of the Fisher College are committed to making it a top-rate and world class institution for preparing students to succeed to the highest degree in business after graduation. I feel very content with the opportunities that I have been exposed to as a result of my experience with the college, and very motivated to achieve great things for myself and for my country and community.
Like any business program, you get out of the Fisher curriculum what you put into it. I spend a large portion of my time studying in the library and have maintained a 4.0 GPA. Hard-working students are rewarded for their efforts. I do not feel that I would have been any more prepared for my career by attending an overpriced Ivy League school.
The Fisher College of Business has been the most wonderful environment for me. I have learned immense amounts of knowledge with some of the foremost experts in the country. The resources that are available to me are immense and I feel extremely fortunate to be in this revolutionary and innovative environment. I have met my lifelong best friends here and I would not give one second back of my time spent. The Honors Cohort program in which I am a part is one of a kind and second to none. Overall, Ohio State is an amazing place to be, but Fisher College of Business is the best.
Career Services and Fisher Connect should be used by everyone, and should be shown to other schools (though I would not like the competition)
I just feel like the skills learned in the classroom do not prepare students for the real world, and classes and degree programs should be more open and designed to be more applicable to student's desired careers.
Has a great honors program- the Business Administration Honors Cohort Program. This program accepts only the top 30 students in the sophomore class to take honors level business core classes in their junior year. The faculty and connections with alumni are both outstanding.
The program as a whole is a fruitful and very educative one but sometimes, the work is too much because much is expected within a short period of time. We ended up doing so much in a quarter that should have bben done in a semester.(Thereby rushing through a lot of things.)
The Fisher College of Business is all around a very reputible program. However, I would say the main complaint I have is professors making simple subject matter and exams overly difficult to curb the issuance of A's.
Fisher College of Business is absolutely great and after having an internship on Wall Street this summer, I feel it is a shame how underrated Fisher is among folks on The Street.
