STUDENT COMMENTS

Many professors actively help you find a job. Most of the time they will go out of their way to help you in any way that they can.

Our business program is amazing, it is the rest of the campus that is lacking. They don't like to work together and all have a tendency to work against one another. They complain about their programs not getting as much support as others and refuse to work with one another. Business seems to be the only school on campus not to be like this.

The Accountancy department of NIU has been instrumental to my academic and professional development, and should I have the opportunity to give back, I definitely will.

I choose Northern not for its location (it is in the middle of corn fields), but for its reputation in the business world. From being employed at such Fortune 500 companies as Motorola and Verizon, I have heard managers talk highly of NIU business graduates. The school promotes teamwork beyond my expectations. I feel the program has helped shaped me for what I should expect when I enter the real business world, unlike some schools, which teach you an unrealistic business world that differs greatly from reality.

I wish that the finance program had more funds to offer a wider variety of classes at the 400 level.

This is a truly spectacular program to study business. The facilities are second to none and the teachers truly care about the students and the success they want them to have. I came here for a tour before freshman year and walked around the Barsema Hall with my family and the head of the accounting came up to us out of nowhere and took an hour out of his busy schedule to give us a tour of the building and talk about the program. I was shocked someone would do that in a school this big. That is a major reason i decided to come here.

One issue that I have is the amount of recruiters on campus for the job fairs. I think there should be more out-of-state employers. I do not want to stay in the Midwest and it seems that the college assumes most students will want to stay here. It is really hard for me to find a company I was interested in at the job fair.

I believe Northern Illinois University is heading in the right direction adding new buildings with some of the most up-to-date technology allowing students the opportunity to be prepared for the difficult real world.

Northern Illinois University has a great business program, and I am very satisfied with my education, preparation for the job market, networks, and so many other aspects that I have gained by attending this great school.

This was a great education, and I recomend the program to any others. It has really prepared me and I feel confident entering the workforce with very little sales training other than the basic product knowledge.

Hands-on experience with many of the classes we have taken at NIU is one of the most critical elements to my career after school.

I believe that the Experiential Learning Center is the most beneficial aspect of the College of Business. I also think that the college has made great strides for ethics, globalization, and practical applications.

I feel the business school does an excellent job in preparing the students for the future. They focus more on practical learning then theoretical, which I feel will benefit me greatly in a Human Resources career.

The business program at NIU is challenging and rewarding. Homework and projects deal with real-world companies and real world situations. All of the instructors are very knowledgeable and always willing to help in any way.

Northern Illinois is a fantastic school. The facilities for the business program are top-notch and it would be difficult for another college to compete. NIU has done an amazing job at preparing not just myself for the business world, but my wife as well. She is a graduate of the business program with a degree in marketing and we both plan on returning for our masters in the very near future at NIU.

I am glad that I attend one of the best accounting programs in the U.S. This program has changed my ways of thinking and learning. It has changed my perception of teamwork, leadership, and professionalism. I have gained so much knowledge from this program, not just the accounting knowledge but other aspects as well. I hope that someday I will be able to do something for the school in return.

Since I have declared my major in Management, I have been amazed and impressed at the growth and quality of the business school. NIU is truly up and coming in the business world and we are just now starting to get the recognition we deserve. We have world-class faculty and staff and students who are committed to the challenges of the business world. I am excited to be president of the Management Student Advisory Board and to work with my fellow students, the dean, and our faculty and staff to continue raising the bar at NIU's College of Business. We are ready, eager, and completely able to compete with the more well-known universities in our area. The big universities better watch out!

I came to NIU as an art major, not knowing about the exceptional business program. Becoming a marketing major has been the best decision I could have made. I love the NIU College of Business and I feel I have learned a great deal here. I feel prepared to enter the work world because of the education they have given me.

I transferred to NIU from a Big 10 school and I had my doubts about how NIU would match up. My experience as an undergrad at Northern surpassed any expectation I ever had. The classes are small and conductive to learning, but the campus is huge and provides all the same opportunities that hte big 10 school I attended did. People are friendly and you can always find someone to help you. I love the faculty in the accounting program, they are all outstanding teachers, people, and mentors. I am so greatful that I gave NIU a chance, because it has provided me with an outstanding education, great leadership experience and opportunities I had never expected.

NIU's Business school is the diamond in the rough here at NIU. The rest of the university needs a makeover. From the dorms, classrooms, and athletic facilities, NIU needs to step it up in these areas.
