STUDENT COMMENTS
I loved the co-op program and I am so glad I chose Northeastern. My experiences in the business world have helped me in the classroom and aided me in making a career decision after graduation.
The business writing course is worthless.
I am currently finishing my third co-op. As a result of these co-ops, I have felt far more prepared than interns within the industry who have gone to more prestigious schools. They frequently come to me with industry-related questions. The experience from the co-op has been outstanding.
I feel that attending Northeastern has greatly prepared me for the future. Because of an internship I received as an undergrad through Northeastern, I already have accepted a full-time job offer for after graduation. I completely attribute this to the outstanding co-op program that is offered at this university and think it is the greatest benefit to all students in preparing them for after graduation employment.
I have loved Northeastern. I have gotten involved with many aspects of campus life including study abroad and student government. The business school as a learning institution is wonderful and has offered me an excellent education. I do wish that the Business School administrators would have more visibility with students. Other colleges at Northeastern have administrators that are very involved with the students in those colleges and I would like to see that more in the CBA.
I went to the European School of Business in Reutlingen, Germany, for two semesters with an internship semester in between and learned a great deal more about how to compete with adversaries in the real world, with the disadvantage of not being a native speaker nor a German. At ESB, I learned more skills that will help me in the post-college period than at Northeastern.
The co-op advisers go out of their way to present a plethora of opportunitites to students for possible job placements. They've been outstanding all five years.
I believe Northeastern's business program must be one of the best. The co-op program is the main reason why students are so successful and ready after graduation.
The communication between offices at our school needs work. Our school does not run as efficiently as it should. It is very hard to get a direct answer when students have questions.
The co-op program is the backbone of Northeastern's education. As a new undergraduate, this fact is hardly known. However, after multiple experiences and chances to network with colleagues, it becomes clear that Northeastern's experience cannot be compared to many other colleges. I plan to have a great job with a great company, while many of my friends who went to four-year schools have average jobs or are still looking for something.
The co-op program is outstanding. All of the advisers do anything they can to help you get a great job that will help build an understanding of what you Want to do when you graduate.
Northeastern is a very competitive business school. We continually win the Beanpot Business Case Competiton over MIT, BU, Babson, and some other fine business programs in the greater Boston area. Most of the students have no trouble finding employment and receive many job offers well in advance of graduation. I am so glad that I chose to attend Northeastern.
The professors in the program are top-notch. All are professionals in the field they are teaching, so they bring real-world case studies and current events to supplement the texts and PowerPoint slides. Co-op is amazing and really prepares you for post-grad employment, as well as serving as a great résumé builder. The program gives NU grads a unique advantage over recent grads from other schools.
The co-op program was great. It really prepared me for entering the work world. It also enhanced my classroom experiance by giving me experiences to apply the theory taught in class.
Northeastern is the premier institution that offers the co-op program. This program allows students to learn about business courses within the classroom, and then work in a focused internship for six months. The skills, contacts, and industry experience gained from co-op are unrivaled in any other undergraduate business program. I have had the opportunity to co-op at Merrill Lynch& Co. on two separate internships, and have been president of the Finance & Investment Club on campus.
My one frustration was finding out that I will be ineligible to take the CPA exam in N.Y. because one of my classes did not meet the N.Y. standards and I found out about this too late into my program to take advantage of the alternative options offered to me by NU. I think advisers should be more aware of specific goals of each student so that the student may maximize his/her education towards his/her specific goals.
The Business Program is very effective with integrating classroom skills along with applied learning through a co-op experience. Northeastern helps students become more worthy job candidates through offering real world experience through co-ops prior to graduation. Many students participate in two to three co-ops and therefore graduate from college with about 1.5 years of combined experience in a variety of industries, companies, and/or positions.
Theresa Mangan is great co-op adviser, always helpful.
I love the School of Business at Northeastern University. It has opened doors in the Financial Services Market (Accounting and Finance) by allowing me to take advantage of the co-op program. I interned at Goldman Sachs and at PricewaterhouseCoopers, both top-tier companies.
The main drive behind Northeastern's business program is the city in which it is set. Not only do students learn about the business world in class, but it's directly pushed into our face throughout our time in Boston. Most students have part-time jobs to afford living in the city, along with a full course load and many other activities they may take part in. This develops time-management skills useful in business and prepares students for life after college, as opposed to a university set in the middle of nowhere.
I do notice now in my senior year the capstone course is really where the meat is. The quality of professors at this level caught me by surprise. Their experiences has shown me what is possible.
