STUDENT COMMENTS
The program has been very excellent overall. They provide assistance and workshops in order to smoothen the transition period to the real world.
The Ross School of Business does an excellent job preparing its undergraduate students for the workplace. I felt that I was better prepared for my summer internship in investment banking than most of my peers from other schools, particularly regarding soft skills and group work. This is likely the result of the effective action-based learning employed by the Ross School, as well as its emphasis on diversity.
The business program is excellent in relating theoretical course material to real-world business problems. For example, I was able to take the knowledge I gained in my real estate class to invest in a college rental property. The companies on Wall Street were impressed with my initiative, and I received a top-paying investment management job.
My experience in Ross has more than exceeded my expectations. The hard work definitely paid off, and I feel very prepared to begin the real world experience.
I believe the most attractive aspect of RSB is its ability to get students the top jobs. It is not necessarily the best aspect of the program (I couldn't just choose one) but career development is usually the reason most students choose to enroll in the BBA program at Ross.
Ross's Office of Career Development is amazing.
I think the most important trait in school is to prepare you for the real world, and Michigan does exactly that, from résumé writing to on-the-job skills.
Recruiting companies are outstanding in quality and in number, but not as good in diversity. I did not get my internships through the Ross School's recruitment, although a Ross alum was a key contact at MTV Networks.
Recruiting is amazing for the undergrad business program. Professors are normally good, but sometimes bba courses are taught by PhD students. Classrooms were very nice, but we're going through construction so space is tight. Classrooms for underclassman are not good.
Ross leads in teaching teamwork skills and gets students involved outside of the classroom setting.
They do an unbelievable job helping us get great internships and jobs.
Michigan does a great job of admitting a diverse crowd of students. During class, I not only learn a lot from the professor, but also from my peers.
Michigan’s reputation for training highly qualified candidates is apparent in the school’s growing alumni base at the nation’s most prestigious institutions.
Aside from the outstanding academics and career preparation, the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business excels in creating a sense of community among its students. Because of section structure, extensive groupwork, and hours upon hours spent in the business facilities, students form close friendships among others within their section.
Although the program has been changed in the last year, for me it was important that the program was only two years long. When I came to school I did not know what I wanted to do and it was only in my sophomore year that I decided to go to the business school.
They bring in top-flight recruiters and prepare students for the rigorous challenges of interviews.
I am very confident in my abilities to succeed in the business world. I owe that to the business school. I have been told many times how well the school has prepared its students from many recruiters.
The BBA program has excellent career placement preparation and recruitment efforts in financial services. It is very difficult to rate facilities as the school is undergoing a major renovation.
Most firm recruiting on campus are financially focused. If this is not your focus, you will more than likely have to look elsewhere.
Ross is a great school though at times it is quite overwhelming. I think they have remedied this though by moving to a three-year program, which will better space out the ridiculously hard core courses. Facilities were also crappy during my time here, but they will have a brand new building in a few years. The absolute best thing about Ross is the opportunity to be competitive for the most sought-after jobs. I had tons of interviews with the best firms on the Street and eventually landed a full-time offer with JPMorgan. This would have been impossible if I was in the liberal arts school.
I am extremely impressed with the overall education I have received at Ross. I think that it is unmatched in terms of classes available, professors, diversity of students, access to top-tier companies, and focus on leadership and career development.
