2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
I only applied to Wharton - it was the only school I would've attended for an EMBA. The program has the same number of hours and classes as the full-time program. You can switch into the full-time program mid-way, so I felt confident I was earning a true Wharton MBA. Additionally, the student body was incrediblely talented and accomplished. The experience of living on campus and having a social life on Friday evenings made for an even more rewarding experience than I had imagined.--Strategy
Wharton's is not an "EMBA." It is a true MBA. We take the same classes with the same professors, and have the same requirements for graduation as full-time students. Our international study trip is required. No "EMBA" compares to it.--Other
The Wharton experience has been fantastic. Classes in corporate finance, M and A valuation, venture capital/private equity, entrepreneurship, and operations management were absolutely top notch. We also received exposure to cutting edge research in hedge fund special strategies by faculty members who are advising hedge funds currently.--Operations
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Instructors were the best professors, at the leading edge of each of their respective fields. Most were accessible via telephone and e-mail. The only two poor professors I encountered were either not full-time Wharton School professors or were brand new to Wharton.--Strategy
[Improvements?] There should be more interaction between the program and my company to achieve greater support for my efforts.--Other
[Changes to program?] Overall, I was pleased with the classroom experience. Like many schools, I would have preferred smaller classroom size. In the first year, before electives, the class size was a substantial 60 people per section. The program would have been better served to decrease that to 40 people per section.--Strategy
The office staff was top-notch, responsive, and understanding of our time constraints. I only applied to one school based on the ranking of the program. I wasn't disappointed with what I learned or who I met. Part of its success was the selection process that we went through to get into the program. Students were selected not only because of their brains but also their personalities. As a result, we worked as a team rather than as competitors. It made all the difference in the world.--Marketing
