2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS

Ivey is one of the lead business schools in the case study method. Its focus is on gaining real, practical experience through actual cases and by drawing on the experience of the class. I gained knowledge, tools, and techniques that I could apply immediately - not academic theories.--Other

Ivey's reputation as the leading business school in Canada, the 100% case method learning approach, and the high caliber of my classmates would compel me to make this selection again.--Finance

[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] The case studies we used were good and up to date, and the professors presented the content well. I wish they had provided more feedback, especially with respect to participation, which is a high percentage of the course mark.--Other

[Improvements?] We needed to have increased involvement in class discussions by students with relevant expertise. I also wish the students in the program had had more practical experience in general. I believe there is a tendency to allow the quality and quantity of experience to slip to achieve desired class sizes.--Accounting

The caliber of learning teams was paramount to a good experience because the program is so case focused. If you had a good team, it was great. If the caliber of your team was not so good, the experience suffered.--Other

[Changes to program?] I would like to see more time spent on starting and structuring your own business. Also, important topics like identifying growth industries and international relations needed more time and attention. We spent way too much time on dysfunctional industries like the airlines.--Marketing

I strongly believe that the school needs to do more work to promote the brand.--Operations

It was one of the most positive experiences of my life. The school did a good job of including my girlfriend in the program so that her expectations were managed and work-school-life balance was kept in check.--Marketing
