2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
The program focused on real-life scenarios and current issues. Working in groups with other professionals in diverse industries heightened prespectives and opened up new thoughts not available in traditional classroom settings.--Manufacturing
The format, faculty, students, facilities, and overall experience were first class in all respects.--Finance
The best EMBA instructors were superior at transfering knowledge and current research into the classroom in a limited amount of time. They leveraged the experience of the students to enhance the experience.--Finance
Staying with one study group for the whole duration of the program limited interaction with the whole class. Changing study groups would allow students to work with the whole class and experience problem solving from different angles.--Operations
In most all respects, the administrators and professors were well organized and prepared for the EMBA format. In a few cases, more advanced lead time with the syllabus and materials would have provided students with more flexibility in preparation.--Finance
[Corporate sponsor?] At Cargill there are very few individuals that are placed into these types of programs. Financially I was supported. I did not ask for much more than that. I figured out how to work it out as far as time. I was promoted twice during the 18-month program, so I had to deal with that challenge on my own.--Strategy
[Improvements?] Improve the quality and the experience level of the students. Too many students didn't have the fundamental skills and/or experiences necessary to effectively contribute. It did not negatively affect the quality of my learning. It simply limited the potential value of learning from others. I feel students benefited more from me then I did from them.--Accounting
I am both fortunate and grateful to have experienced the EMBA at Olin. The program is extremely effective, and I trust the net impact on students is among the very best.--Finance
In today's business environment, information technology's role is ever increasing, and it is becoming even more important for business leaders to understand the value IT can bring. My suggestion on improvement is to more specifically address the value of IT in business (it was mentioned in a number of subjects, such as marketing, but not given its due attention).--Other
The program I attended at Washington University of St. Louis was a fantastically organized program with excellent instructors. The facility is state of the art. The living accommodations were outstanding and the course work was challenging and specific to my educational needs.--Manufacturing
