2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
You can't beat the USC alumni network and the resources that USC has at its disposal.--Other
I believe USC prepared me to handle any challenge I might face in the global business arena.--Other
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] They are all willing to help students to learn and excel in their careers.--Other
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Strengths: on the leading edge of their academic fields, passionate about teaching; Weakness: could have more real case studies.--Operations
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Strengths: ability to teach seasoned professionals with strong personalities. Well organized program. Excellent communication of expectations; Weaknesses: the marketing programs could be stronger.--Marketing
[Changes to the program?] Linking our class with the GEMBA class in Shanghai. Working on projects with students in Shanghai would have made our international experience even better than it was.--Other
The classroom experience was excellent. The only improvement would be more broad participation by the students.--Operations
We really enjoyed some of the guest speakers that were brought in to address the class. I would have enjoyed hearing from more business leaders throughout the program. One other item that would have improved the classroom experience was more debate on topics by the students. Given it was an executive program, the caliber of students was really high and on a couple of occassions, debates would occur between students that had a great deal of experience on the topic. Maybe the professors could encourage debate on a topic by knowing which of the students work in that particular field.--Other
I am the owner of the corporation. I believe that I will make major improvements in operation and increase profit margins.--Other
The program is designed to evaluate feedback and suggestions and to implement change. Therefore, as long as the existing process continues, the program will continue to improve and change as needed.--Operations
I am satisfied. I do wish that I had been better prepared for the workload and the impact to my life and family. It was a true struggle balancing the rigors of school with running a small business and trying to be a good husband and parent. I'm not sure if I really knew what I was getting into. So, perhaps something could be done in that regard. The program may over-emphasize the marketing function. Although, the program included an international trip to China and devoted an entire theme on Globalization Strategies, I would like to have had even more information on the nuts and bolts of international business.--Operations
USC continues to do well with networking -- establishing and maintaining a strong community. This is an important part of an MBA program. The international component is a valuable differentiator for USC. I feel extremely informed about the issues in China, the emerging world giant.--Marketing
