HISTORICAL EMBA DATA

BEHIND THE RANKINGS:

To better gauge student sentiment over the years, BusinessWeek tracked the answers given by students at each of our Top 25 Executive MBA programs to key questions in our 2001, 2003, and 2005 surveys. Falling six slots in this year's rankings to No. 19, NYU underperformed the averages for all surveyed schools on eight of the 11 questions, including all four measures of teaching quality. But overall student satisfaction was on par with the total schools sample. Since 2001, NYU has gained ground on some measures of teaching quality, program organization, and overall student satisfaction. But its students are less hard working: time spent hitting the books has dropped nearly two hours a week to just 15.6 hours. The only school where students put in less time--the University of Chicago.
