2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
I would have preferred to spend more time on learning international strategy, finance, and social responsibility as opposed to fulfilling non-value added but required courses - such as business government and product development. A recommendation would be to offer flexibility with electives, but this would not be feasible as it is a cohort-based program.--Accounting
The international aspect of the program was excellent and was directly related to my field of work. In fact, I learned more about international business in those two years at Georgetown than my previous six years in actual international business practice. The professors and fellow students added more to the program than I expected. In addition, the administrative staff was superb. Questions regarding tuition, books, and policies were answered or solved before anyone thought to raise the question.--Finance
The instructors had a great way of blending the academic concepts with practical implementations. Cases were used regularly to realize theory. Occassionally, individuals from industry were brought in as guest speakers, but I thought the instructors could have leveraged these resources a bit more throughout the entire program.--Other
The biggest strength is the industry experience that the instructors collectively have. I did not find that the intructors as a whole have any significant weaknesses. As EMBA students, we were treated as peers. Classes consisted of discussions among the class - not just lectures to the class.--Other
I am a different manager today than when I walked into the program the first day.--Marketing
[Suggestions?] Possibly a few more guest experts during day sessions. We had an exceptional number of Chinese, Mexican, and business planning guests during the evening and weeklong residencies, but the classroom time during the days did not permit as many guest appearances.--Other
[Suggestions?] Try to keep the price down. It was definitely worth my money, time, and effort -- and I know because I paid for the whole thing on my own -- but the price increases seem a challenge for the incoming classes.--Other
This experience changed me professionally and personally. The professors at Georgetown are personal and professional and it was obvious they gave their heart and soul to this program. It made all the difference in the world. The literature highlights students' ability to apply concepts taught in the program immediately in the office - and it was true. Georgetown's IEMBA program ranks among the top five experiences of my life.--Operations
