2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
I was looking to switch careers into finance. I got a thorough grounding in this area at Emory's Goizueta Business School. The finance faculty and curriculum is comparable to the best anywhere. As a result, my transition was easy even in this troubled job market - I had no problem finding a dream job in my new chosen field. Of course, other than this narrow (but important) goal, I also got a great broad-based education in the practice of management with the latest tools and excellent professors at the forefront of their discipline.--Other
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Most were approachable and accommodating, even though some were world reknowned in their fields. We had one professor (who happens to be well known in the business community and educational arena) who was not too interested in grading papers and the administrative side of his duties. That was frustrating. Overall the faculty was outstanding, though.--Operations
Goizueta's EMBA instructors are not only incredibly accomplished in their respective fields of research, but they also have current and extensive first-hand experience working with and consulting for a wide variety of businesses around the world. Goizueta also has a process for continual feedback throughout the EMBA program so that student concerns are heard and addressed immediately. My understanding is that most programs wait until the end of a class or program before soliciting such feedback.--Strategy
I think there was too much emphasis on leadership courses, a subject I believe cannot be taught. The instructors in this area tended to also be the weakest of the faculty as well. The lectures tended to draw from some of the more obvious aspects of life anyone in an EMBA program should have experienced, so I would have preferred more focus in other areas.--Other
[Improvements?] More focused career resources for those funding their own EMBA education - EMBAs must have tailored career resources available to them. I realize this is a conflict in many instances, however more and more students are self-funded with corporate policies that govern the stipulations of educational assistance. I would have been better served to have a career office suited to assist me with my experience level and career path.--Operations
Fantastic experience! Goizueta is world-class and has broadened my perspective by at least five to 10 years. I would not have done a thing differently if given the opportunity to repeat the process.--Other
