2005 GRADUATE COMMENTS
The quality of the professors is generally high and the content of the material challenging. However, the administration of the program is weak and the program is New York-centric and not well suited for international students or scope. The program is struggling to make the transition from a full-time day program to an executive weekend program. This was reflected in the construction and delivery of the course material.--Operations
The Johnson School EMBA program at Cornell really emphasizes leadership development. They invest in building a cohesive class of future business leaders. Moreover, the small class size (50 students) and student/faculty ratio are advantageous in fostering a personable atmosphere. The intense and rigorous structure of the program exceeded my expectations.--Finance
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Most of the instructors have been with Cornell for many years. They were familar with the culture of the school and the needs of the students. They were always willing to help. Any outside faculty member that was brought in to teach was outstanding. There weren't too many weakenesses associated with the faculty.--Other
[Suggestions?] More information and training around how "managers and leaders" should think. More outside speakers from the business world who could pull through the learnings taught in the classroom. More training and insight behind ethics.--Marketinga,/i>
[Suggestions?] Stronger focus on private equity and entrepreneurship. Drop the career counseling services offered by the third-party executive career coaching agency because it was a total waste of everyone's time and money. All of the students knew that it was just a smoke screen to circumvent the fact that we didn't have access to on-campus recruiting.--Finance
Overall, the Cornell EMBA program was a fabulous experience. It was great to leverage the classroom theories and strategies into my day-to-day work. We had some really outstanding professors and only two to three bad professors. Cornell did a great job in creating a balanced class by age, experience, and industry expertise. At times the course work was overbearing but in the end it was all well worth the experience. The program made me stronger as a professional and as a person.--Finance
