CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I now feel that you should try to get into the best business school you can in the field you think you would like to pursue when you are finished.--Finance
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The MBA program at William & Mary is a great experience. The professors are exceptional and the class size allows intimate relationships to be forged.--Finance
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] William & Mary is an outstanding program because of the small size. Students and professors really grow and bond together throughout the learning process, which allows the students to feel very comfortable approaching them regarding school work, or job placement information. All of the professors are excellent and have a great deal of real-world experience to blend with "book knowledge." The one area where William & Mary is lacking is career services, however, with the additions this year it appears to be making the right progress.--Finance
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I would definitely encourage people I know to enroll in the same MBA program because of the quality education I received. Major factors would include the small class size, the excellent faculty, the relationship with the executive partners, and the consulting projects done with field studies.--Finance
As part of the field study requirement, I acted as the project leader. It was a great experience to lead a consulting effort. During the project I was in constant contact with senior executives of the company we were working for. I was able to hone my communication skills during the project. As it turns out, my new position at Norfolk Southern requires me to interact with senior levels of management as well, and I feel I am adequately prepared to hold serious and complicated discussions.--Finance
As the team leader for my consulting project, I worked in conjunction with fellow teammates, advisors, and the client. As a result, my project-management and communication skills were heavily put to use. These are skills that are invaluable, and I'm certain will serve me well during the course of my career.--Finance
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] We had to deal with ethical issues with the client, and it was nice to be able to do it in a protected environment like school before I have to do it in the real world.--Not Available
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] The consulting project for James City County provided an opportunity to apply what was learned during our first year to a real business situation/environment. It served as reaffirmation of the skills developed and the knowledged gained during our education.--Finance
What helped me in my MBA experience was having the ability to identify what I wanted to get out of the program before setting foot on the campus.--Accounting
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] William & Mary provided a very rigorous classroom experience with the right balance of support from the professors, MBA Career Services, and other resources (for example, nearby retired executives). I knew I wanted to switch from technology consulting into corporate finance within a company and W&M's top-notch professors prepared me well, particularly in the areas of corporate finance and international economics.--Finance
I did a consulting project with Gannett Co., Inc., and not only was it an outstanding educational experience, but I have developed a great network within the company and am trying to get a job there. Also, other firms that have seen this project on my resume -- such as Disney, Warner Bros., etc. -- have been very impressed with my experience with Gannett. We were one of the first two outside consulting teams ever enlisted to do a project for Gannett.--Marketing
I was fortunate enough to participate in an international exchange program at IPADE in Mexico City and this undoubtedly was my greatest business-school experience. I would urge every MBA student to partake in a study-abroad program and believe William & Mary should push these opportunities even more to students.--Finance
William and Mary was a truly unique experience. I believe that the intensity and quality of the program, faculty, and students are excellent. I also see a lot of ongoing efforts among the administration of the business program to further improve the school. As a result, I know that within the next five years it will surely rank within the top-25 business schools in the USA.--Marketing
I would recommend the MBA program at the College of William and Mary to anyone seeking a great return on their education investment. The professors are engaging, the town is gorgeous, and the small class size is what really sets the school apart.--Consulting
