CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The UC system seems to offer the most bang for the buck. Further, I feel UC Irvine's reputation understates the quality of the school. The professors and students are top notch.--Finance

I think the Graduate School of Management at UC Irvine provides a quality education for a very affordable price. Most professors care about teaching and encourage interaction among the students. The students are high-caliber and also fun to be around. As a matter of fact, I recommended this school to my friend, who joined the year after I did.--Finance

I would recommend my program to most of my friends and colleagues, but its small-community feel would not be appropriate for all of them, as some would better fit in at a larger school.--Marketing

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The school provided a solid education and provided significant networking opportunities.--Consulting

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The quality of the instructors and the extracurricular programs (such as the entrepreneurship program) are outstanding.--Finance

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I think that the class size, quality of students and professors, and service provided exceed that of any other MBA that I know about. I nearly doubled my salary and had a relatively low financial burden.--Consulting

My group did a project for Advanced Medical Optics (a spinoff of Allergan). They were having difficulty in client retention and asked if we could asses the situation and offer recommendations. This required working with their IT, marketing, and sales department for 10 weeks and coming up with a solution that involved implementing an in-house CRM system.--Marketing

We did a consulting project for a manufacturing plant in Los Angeles for our operations-management class. It helped make the concepts we had learned more concrete as we had to apply them to real-life situations.--Marketing

I was able to work on a consulting project for Deloitte that gave me real-world experience.--Entrepreneurship

I worked with a team of MBA students to examine the marketing practices for two nonprofit organizations: YMCA and Think Together. Our project concluded with the creation and presentation of a marketing plan for Think Together. They adopted several of our recommendations and the number of volunteers has increased for them.--Marketing

UC-Irvine offers an excellent core business-school education. It prepares students well for taking on duties that they are likely to encounter in their careers. In addition, the collegial environment facilitates learning from peers. Although UC-Irvine is not ranked as highly as some other programs, the quality of the courses offered is top-notch.--Marketing

The administration staff at GSM are amazing. They will bend over backward to help us any way they can. Furthermore, the sense of community among the students is really noteworthy for an MBA program. The entire experience has far exceeded my expectations!--Consulting

There were lots of great things about GSM, and I am pleased that I did make the decision to go there. I think the major problem for GSM is the lack of strong professional contacts and career opportunities.--Marketing

I was part of a pilot program to team MBA students with international businesses and nonprofits. Our project took us to Ireland. We consulted with a social-capitalism group dedicated to preserving peace in Northern Ireland. The result was a solid business plan for a self-sustaining commercial opperation that financed its own social development projects. I am much better prepared for future consulting engagements and have an enhanced understanding of start-up businesses.--Marketing
