CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Syracuse's Whitman School of Management has a challenging MBA program for those who wish to be fully engaged in the learning experience. There are many students though, who are just there for the sake of being there and are not interested in pursuing high grades and benefitting from the full classroom experience. A student must be willing to deal with group members who are not as driven or motivated to enjoy the program at SU.--Not Available

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The program gave me an excellent understanding of the "big picture" of a company's purpose. I was able to work with other students in teams as well as individually in exploring the processes to get to this point. It also gave me a chance to learn about other methods of business through the high percentage of international students that attended the school. It made me see what a great manager and leader should be and the building blocks that are used to become one.--Marketing

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] It has provided me with numerous opportunities, including networking with many CEOs and doing a summer internship at JP Morgan in London.--Investment Banking

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The Syracuse MBA is very generous with scholarship money. I have an investment-banking and finance background. The accounting classes in the MBA were extremely helpful to round out my knowledge and make way for a successful future. In addition, the new school will be state of the art and the SU MBA program is making many long-needed and strategic changes for the better. The school is underrated and a great investment value.--Accounting

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It allowed my team members and me to apply learned concepts to real-world issues. It grounded our understanding of certain areas of business and forced us to complete a real-time solution in a real-time situation. It was an excellent experience.--Marketing

The consulting project involved a start up that was interested in using information technology to detect parking. This experience helped me understand the various real-life issues in starting a business such as regulatory compliance, getting buy-in of investors, etc.--Operations

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] Using the knowlege I learned from the MBA program, I can give systematic consulting for a new start up with major focus. I know how to write a complete business plan, which I couldn't do before I attended the school, and I now have particular knowledges and skills I learned from marketing and supply chain optimization classes.--Operations

The consulting project brought real-world problems to a theoretical learning process. The capstone course permitted us to use the diverse analytical skills we acquired in a useful and progressive setting.--Accounting

The program has great potential and I would like to see more interest on the part of the university's administration. The program needs appropriate funding and help in bringing in a larger number of employers. Staff and faculty need to be motivated and interested in bringing this program to the next level. An MBA program should strive to attract outstanding students as well as outstanding faculty and staff. Getting by is not enough to achieve excellence.--Not Available

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Yes, most definitely. The school encourages team-building and has extensive real-world projects that enhance the educational learning from theoretical to practical applications.--Not Available
